I saw them 2 weeks ago in Halifax. They were absolutely incredible. Perhaps the best live show I have ever seen and I've seen just about everyone in the last 40 years. As a Canadian, I hate saying this...but the only thing that kept these guys from becoming worldwide, household names was the fact that they were Canadian. It sucks to say.. but it is true.

@@jeffbryant4591 its no surprise their work connected with me and my own stuff given their occult influences. I love finding music that fits perfectly for the characters in my comic. Gives me a lot of unique influences for characterization that way. It took forever to find any songs that I felt perfect for my main antagonist, and then I suddenly come across Interzone Mantras and hear Apathy.

Lost count of how many times I saw these guys live, but it’s around twelve. Honestly, they were great every time. I lived in Australia until a few years ago, and they probably toured there every year from around 1993, to the mid 2000’s. Most recent gig I saw them at was the 20th anniversary of “Edges of Twilight” in Melbourne, where they played the album in its entirety, plus a few old favourites. Great musicians.

@@zane4575 : Buckley had the writing pedigree and guitar chops, and would have been huge if he had survived beyond 1 album. The Cult didn't really get noticed in the states until Rick Rubin got involved. Great band though. Massive Attack? Surprising you never heard of them seeing as you appear to be a fan of early 90's music. They had some cool film clips. Check out Teardrop, Angel, and Unfinished Symphony.

With Splendor Solis, the (supposed) triumph of the Canadian trio around mastermind Jeff Martin began. That should have been the beginning of a great career. Sometimes music is maybe that little bit too original and too good to reach larger audiences. The Tea Party contributed everything it takes to become a piece immortal in the music business for their debut Splendor Solis (I know there was an album before that, however, that contained many songs from the upcoming Splendor Solis). Their influences (not only considered musically) were developed into something very special with the help of many other musical currents. Timelessly beautiful rock music full of creativity without looking at hit parades, commerce or currents and trends. Deeply intrinsically motivated, just there. With classics like "The River", "Fire in the Head", "Dreams of Reason", "The Majestic Song", "Correspondences", which have never been adequately appreciated ... This band could have become really big. From an artistic point of view they were and are they become it too.

Definitely the best singing voice of the entire bunch from that era of Canadian rock music. Also, the bands 2nd and 3rd albums are absolute classics of rock music in general (though Transmission is a bit polarizing to some), The Edges of Twilight being a perfect album, which is really rare. Every song is amazing. I've seen recent live clips and the voice and playing are still intact, but my word Jeff is full of himself. It's understandable in way. If that voice came out of _my_ head, I too might think I was a God hahaha

It's funny, as a big fan of The Doors myself, then of The Tea Party, I'm surprised more comparisons aren't made between them.
