I drive about 140,000lbs or 63,000kg loads every shift as an ore-hauler here in Ontario. The average person doesn't understand how heavy that is and how much it restricts our ability to accelerate. I get flipped off constantly for doing 35km/h up hills.

Here in india we haul 55ton gvw with a 300hp 6.7 cummins on semi truck. On flat highway we would do max 60km/hr. On downhill we may occasionally hit the 80km/hr limiter. On uphill it could slow down to 5km/hr or less if we have to use the crawler gear in a very steep incline. When going up Himalayas we don't load above 25ton. At 12k 17k feet that 300hp turns into 100hp. If going to the peaks of 19k we would not even load more than 15ton.

That was a pretty tough pull. And nice job backing down that hill. That is no easy task. We encounter similar hills regularly here in the back woods of Alberta. The skip a gear method you did there is how its done. Don't let the revs down to far in 4th, pop it out of gear and go for 2nd with your foot to the floor. It falls in nicely at wide open and its all good. Takes some practice but you'd get onto it quick. Great videos! Keep it up!

Hey man, you did good. Take this advise for what it's worth. 1. When engaging and disengaging diff-locks remove all driveline stain, that includes the truck being straight. After a momentary lift of the fuel and straight, flick your inter-xale and difflocks. If you don't do it this way, you will be replacing rear-ends. 2. Believe it or not, a smooth swing up a hill like that and dripping 3 and 4 gears at a time and cresting the hill in 1st or 2nd smoothly will be way less dramatic than the adventure you just went through. It's never fun when When you're in a situation like your in especially when it's you're own truck and it's your bills.

That downshift at the top of the hill was CLUTCH! (no pun intended) good work
@rohangaming6423 жыл бұрын
If you still can't make it up to the hill then you had split your trailers and climb with one and drop one up and came for second (tell me what would you do)

That's some ausie shit there lol

Being your first time in there you can be excused. We have a few hills like this in the woods in NB where guys try to run it and wind up doing a bunch of grinding and spinning and calling for wreckers . The spinning part makes hell for the guys coming after. Stop, put her in #1 (assuming you have a proper 13 or 18) 4Xlock and crawl. It only takes surprisingly few minutes and way less drama. Hero status btw for backing that btrain down!! ;-)

Been doing this for years put it in 1st at bottom of hill and leave it there

Much respect, my friend! My knees would've been shaking after the first attempt...not sure I'd have had the nerve to try her again!

Dude on the final try when the engine was dying out you suppose to down shift amd floor it before it had time to die out its safer for the truck

Yep good way to twist that drive shaft up like a pretzel but you made it!!!! Just shows that your Truck is in top condition or it would not have made it.

Two things one hats off to you for being about to back a set of B trains down that hill twice. Honestly don't think I could and two beautiful save on that last pull. It's not always easy dropping gears like that and getting back in the pull without breaking lose.

Give this young man a Medal and show some love for the super Pete ,I drove dump trailer hauling coal and fly ash on roads like that I feel his pain we didn't load that heavy but I only had a R-Model Mack with a 300 and 5 speed . I remember pulling one hill on my 3 try and was standing up in the truck with my full weight on the fuel trying to hold on has the truck was jumping and spinning I make it to the top with the smell of clutch burning not fun but that's where I had to go to unload the fly ash

Nice backing work. Holy crap that’s a great attitude for some nail biting situation.
@lubomirzvolensky36303 жыл бұрын
momentum is your only friend in situation like that. Cracking job, buddy, cracking !! That was literally inches how you grabbed that gear. Hit it hard next time you see the hill on horizon, rev' it over 2000 like there's no tomorrow, downshift earlier and you'll be hitting brakes on top :) 140'000 LB ain't 45'000

I literally exploded the power divider on this thing a year and a half ago doing a second gear pull on a much smaller hill, so anytime I get to a hill I take it reeeal cautiously!!
