@@ifabforfun how does that even make sense
@Jonathan_Doe_5 жыл бұрын
Everett They probably came up with ‘horsepower’ as a unit of measurement before they had a way to accurately measure the kind of power output a horse can actually create at full exertion... Then realised horses are actually more powerful than they thought. Either that or in the early days of engines they wanted to make them sound better than horses so they intentionally made the unit way weaker than a horse actually is.
@ianklassen47565 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, the man who came up with horsepower actually used ponies or donkeys as his base for comparison and made the assumption that if a pony can pull a certain weight a certain distance in x time then a horse should be able to do it in half the time. So 1 Horsepower is the ability to pull "x" weight "x" distance in "x" time. I don't remember numbers but it is something along those lines. I hope this makes sense.

Mark Ewin most tires cant handle 400 mph unless they are hard rubber or solid aluminum billet , iv only seen that Ford running at just over 300 mph on inflated tires the centrifugal force wants to RIP tires apart at that speed, heat also plays a big part in the limitations of pneumatic tires
