I have a 03 3L 2wd escape that hit 163k miles and she’s my pride. Made a 3400mi round trip with *mostly* no issues. Shortly after my water pump died but replacing it wasn’t too tough. Put new sway bar links and bushings in, a new radiator, and ignition coils over the last 2 years but she shifts fine despite that Gen having notorious transmission issues! I need to change the oil pressure switch to rid myself of the oil lamp light and fix some intake manifold issues sooner rather than later, but she drives just fine aside from minor hiccups and in my opinion is decently easy to work on. I hear the alternator is a pain, but I’ll cross that bridge when I get there

That is typically what ends the life of those, is the transmission, I figured you were being a brave man to floor it!😂 I think the engine was Ford because they use the same one in the Taurus it was actually an option in the Taurus you could get the 12 valve 3 L or the 24. Vulcan and Duratek I believe Duratek is the 24 valve like you’ve got there, both pretty solid engines.

There have been three people in my family with gen 1 ford escapes. My grandma had a 2006 XLT with AWD. My sister got one that was practically the exact same car, same color, same interior color, same year. And me. I have a 2002 that has also been very well maintained. And you were wondering which company made the V6. Ford made the 3.0 V6, mazda made the 2.0 4 cylinder. With three being in the family of mechanics, i know many facts about them

How reliable are they?
@just_your_average_t33n348 ай бұрын
They're amazingly reliable depending on the year. Some say not to get an 04. Mine is at 220k miles and still is a dream to drive. Both my sister and grandma got theirs to about 350k miles. One thing that can make it a bit risky is if it's a city car over a highway car because of the stop start and the constant speed change. If it's a city one, there's a chance it'll need a transmission

I have an 2002 escape with 219 k I bought it at 171k. It shifts slightly hard from second to third every sence. When I disconnect the battery an reconnect it, it will slip third gear like you can feel the lose of speed an hear the increase in rpm for a second. In a few days it gets back to it's normal hard shifting lol I don't understand it but it still running.
