Good end cap on the video correcting the fuel filter comment with trans filter. Honda doesnt list it as a servicable part. I recommend changing it wvery 10-15k miles to prolong the transmission

I have a 2001 MDX. I changed my transmission myself in the driveway about 5 years ago. Im now getting a P0740 code. I changed 3 solenoids OEM( the same ones you pointed at) . The code still persist. I'm toying around with the idea of changing transmission again. I used a remanufactered unit I purchased from AutoZone. The remanufacter is called Moveras in NH. Your channel has got me thinking again. I followed each and every step in the Acura Service manual. It wasn't as hard as I thought. I did it in the driveway over 2 weekends. Did just changing the Torque converter solve the problem?

The solenoids can get clogged. Take them off and look at the filters. If they're clogged then blow them clean. This means that there are debris in your transmission. If that's the case - do a transmission flush. I've done over 5 full flush but mine still clogged. My guess was the previous owners never changed out the original filter thinking it don't have one. The original filter busted with debris all over inside the tranny. I should have opened it and cleaned it before putting it back in.

Changing the torque converter DID NOT change my problem as I mentioned it's debris inside my transmission clogging the sensors(solenoids).

No...I think my real problem was dirty internals....The "ORIGINAL" owners and everyone after her until me never changed the filter...the original one's internal filter fabric or materials were so weak that it broke/shattered into million pieces and with the gears grinding the materials into fine particles or fragments....It's everywhere inside the trasmission....I flushed it 6-7 times with new Acura fluids but it still didn't help and sensors keep clogging. It's always fine after cleaning the sensor screens. If you have the money (which no one does) go with a new transmission .

I again, drain and filled the fluid a second time and this seem to work (P0740 code went away). I was able to pass inspection. The check engine light didnt come back for 1 year, previously it would come back in a day or 3 miles. So, I'll drain and fill again. That's easier than a tranny swap/

@@MrChengdothings Hey, recently drained and filled with ATF a second time and 740 code went away for about 1 year. Long enough to pass inspection. So now I just drain and fill ATF every summer. This has helped a lot.

My 02 MDX when it I'm on D5 driving the car make some vibration (soft humming noise) do you have the same issued? Thank so much for your details video. Chanh P.

Mine does not...the light around the letter in the cluster gauge blink then the car have a hard time shifting. Sometimes it won't even shift. Had to reset the ecu by using the OBD2 reader or disconnecting the battery for a couple seconds. The problem goes away for just a little while depending on how bad the problem is .

I had the same. I believe it's torque converter shudder. Mine would only do it when going 45-50 MPH. If I kept it in D4 it would never do it. This was happening with only 60K on the car. I started changing fluid more often and it went away. I now have 412K and it's purring like a kitten. Weird

Any tips for a 2004? This is after they did the engine redesign and eliminated that external filter
@MrChengdothings2 жыл бұрын
When I called Acura Dealer, they told me there's nothing I can do if it's an internal filter...simply put they want you to go in so they can suck more money from you... The tech didn't even know my year have external filters until I keep insisting he check it out...then he finally saw what I was talking about. Check how to change internal filters (If there is one)...I haven't looked into those transmission as I was busy with the issues with mine at the time.

@@MrChengdothings It turns out the MDX had an engine redesign after 2003 and those transmissions are not compatible with anything after 2003. 04 should be back compatible with 05 and 06. I think the 2004 is MDKA and 05 and six is BDKA But they do not have that external filter

Would it be worth replacing just the flywheel or at that point does it make sense to just put in an all new transmission.
@MrChengdothings2 жыл бұрын
I thought about that but the used Transmission I've been seeing are $2-3K

From my experience, it's the sensor on top of the transmission and/ the one in front or both...take those out and clean the screen filter...

Where is the follow-up? Good job bro! I've done this once, and unfortunately have to do it again. Eff.

Did never posted one. And I'm having trouble reinstalling the trans... kinda of a pain
@MrChengdothings3 жыл бұрын
I lost some of the recordings so I decided not to...only did it once for the MDX but did another transmission swap on a 08 Pilot which was the same method.
@MrChengdothings3 жыл бұрын
It's the reverse of taking it out...the pain part for me was putting the sub frame back onto the frame...since it was only me, it took some muscle.

Will a jdm mdx transmission work on a 2001 mdx
@MrChengdothings2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the year...It's only within 1-2 years that are compatible so make sure you do the research.

How long did it take to take off?
@MrChengdothings2 жыл бұрын
I did it in my driveway by myself and only couple hours after work so it took me about 1-1/2 week. Some days I spend longer time and some days I only spend like 30 min because of weather. If you do it in a garage and have the time, it can be done in a day with the right equipments like a lift and proper jacks.

Install an INLINE TRANS FILTER THAT YOU CAN SERVICE EASILY TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE ALONG WITH A TRANS COOLER.
@floweuphoria9992 жыл бұрын
Any links on how to do this? They removed the external trans filter a year before my car was made in an engine redesign and I was thinking if I replace the transmission is there anything I can do to add it back in?
