Back when I was much younger. I used to use my fingers for squeezing the pistons back in. Back then I didn't know much about working on cars and the tools available.

When I put the caliper back on the bolts won't tighten. They just keep turning. Any suggestions?

You need to hold the part that is spinning behind that bolt. I’m sure you can see it spinning back there.

Hi, My meredes c280 has done 78k km. Please let me do I need to replace only the brake pads or also the Rotors?
@HelpingHandAutoRepair2 жыл бұрын
That’s hard to say without having seen and driven the car. If there are large grooves on the rotors then I would replace them. If the car shakes while coming to a stop, I would replace them. Lastly if there is a large lip on the very outer edge of the rotor then I would replace them.

With no torque wrench, how tight should we tighten the bolts?
@HelpingHandAutoRepair2 жыл бұрын
That’s sort of hard to answer accurately. I would go by feel but all of us are stronger or weaker than others so the values would vary significantly. I’m sure the torque values can be found with a Google search. Hope this helps.

Quick question can you do the front brakes of the 06 c280 they seem different from the rear
@HelpingHandAutoRepair3 жыл бұрын
They should be very similar. Unless you have sport package. If your calipers say Mercedes on them, then this link I’m about to give you WON’T WORK. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIDManufl6yhr5o

You forgot to put some grease on back of the pads to stop brake squeal
@HelpingHandAutoRepair2 жыл бұрын
Didn’t forget. I don’t put it on there because it’s not necessary.

I follow a couple of shops that have You Tube channels. All of them use a bit of grease on the either the back of the pads or on the piston part that is expose. But you have to use the correct type of grease or it can ruin the piston boot cover.

My pin doesn't come out =D Thinking to cut it
@jasonthorogood Жыл бұрын
I had same problem you probably figured it out by now but I cut mine and bought a new set of pins and clips used copper grease on the pins and silicone grease on the back of the pads and where they slide or make contact metal to metal within the calliper
