What are your thoughts on auto zone or pep boys Vs Toyota tensioner. I know everyone, OEM is the best just thinking budget rn
@HelpingHandAutoRepair2 күн бұрын
OEM is best but if you can’t afford one right now. Nothing wrong with fixing the broken one with any parts store part. That’s what is on my buddies GS300. Been on there for about 3 years now without issues. I think his is from Orielly.

We have a 2018 Fusion and the caliper bolts are driven with a 7mm hex socket. Are you certain yours are T-45? They're both hex, but if you use a Torx on a hex head you might end up rounded it out since there's less contact area.

Good video, but I hate to tell ya, I have done several of these, and all of them I pulled them from underneath, especially if it is 2wd.

What t45 …. What happened to regular bolts
@HelpingHandAutoRepair5 күн бұрын
T45 are pretty regular bolts. Have been for a while across the pond and on most newer fords.

Why does no one ever use the easiest tool for this job? That’s the pitman arm puller.
@HelpingHandAutoRepair6 күн бұрын
Because we aren’t working on a Pittman arm but rather a lower ball joint. Pittman arms work great in some case but a ball joint removal tool works great too. They are both very easy to use. Pittman arms don’t always fit in every situation and sometimes aren’t big enough openings or sometimes too big.

So I live in michigan and when I was taking the crank pulley off, the part where the pulley sits on the lower timing belt gear were rusted together and they both came off as one piece. I didn’t time it like you did in the video because I thought I was just taking the pulley off but now I can’t get the lower timing belt gear back on because of the tensioner. So I thought if I left it alone and didn’t rotate the bottom end at all, I could just time it correctly after I installed the new timing belt and water pump. I know it’s a unique situation, but I’m wondering if it’s ok to time it after the new belt is on if I don’t move anything. I am also having a very hard time getting the new belt and tensioner to go all the way around all the gears. I’m pretty sure the tensioner is as loose as it will go but it is still having a very hard time going onto the gears. I’m wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them and what I can do to fix it. Sorry about the long comment, just a lot of questions. Thanks anyone for any information!

You can remove just the large plastic intake that runs from front fender to air filter housing. No need to remove everything, the first 15 min of work are unnecessary

Most often with those you would need to use a scanner to reset/recalibrate them.

How did you get those 2 black cable next to the green cable?? Mine is hard to pull when pressing. My finger hurt. Also, the nut on alternator cable is so hard and i get it off. The black plastic around that crack and side piece came off also little crack on the bottom as well.

I have 125k miles and it’s my second time doing it. The first time I did it at around 93k and it was an after market gasket, it started leaking a few months later( I know I waited a long time to re do it since it wasn’t leaking much). I just did it again but I got the gasket from Honda and it seems to be working a lot better.

Thank you for creating this video. I have this vehicle (not my choice) and was hoping I could change the air filters. German engineering, lol. After all the steps you have to go through with this, forget this! I may have to have the Mercedes repair place do it. Where can I get the air filters at least I can save some money that way. After watching this video, I want my Tahoe back (rust finished it off). It is so simple to change in a Tahoe or Suburban - remove a cover, take the old one out, put new one back in, replace cover. I also have a 1988 dodge daytona. Three plastic screws, remove the cover, and there is the air filter.

Take a note if your BMW had leaked out a bunch of fluid before doing any repairs then refilling it you may need 4 things of coolant I just used three full ones
