I guess the most obvious biblical reference is the ressurection of man as a god at the end. Or a demi God, I always think of JC as a demi God like Hercules. Thought provoking video as always, thanks for posting.

Thank you so much for the kind words and yes , there could definitely be some Demi-God vibes in the latter part of the film . I may explore that in another video someday . 👍

Part of my enjoyment of Kubrick’s storytelling is his creative use of archetypes.

Very interesting. Some people believe the big bang theory is based on the Creationism theory in the book of Genesis. One slight overlook in 2001. I've bringing this up because I have been watching the movie very recently. I'm not disagreeing with you, but I think this might expand on your theory. Before the monolith scene, we see bones of an "ape", soon one of the "apes" were attacked by a cat and there was a small war between two groups for a pond of water. This goes against them living peaceful. But the motive for controlling the water seemed more like a necessity. It could be agreed that the monolith did insert some kind of knowledge. Assumingly the thought to use weapons "bones" I'm saying assumingly because as we watch the movie the monolith was flashed for a brief second (kind of suggesting that the monolith inserted knowledge). The "ape" plays with a bone, picks up a bone and starts swatting at stuff. And the "ape" first kill was a animal they ate. Although watching the next scene the "ape" that was eating meat was walking more upright, had more control of it's weapon and some communication was happening. Possibly the fruit from the tree of knowledge (in 2001) is the meat from the first kill. I think the "ape" murder was quite brutal for a 1960's film.

Wow , really great thoughts ,thank you . There's definitely so much going on here I feel like I can always go back and find more . 👍

@@kubricktheory237 I think you were on point with creationism and the tree of knowledge. I think the fruit that made these "apes" into "men" is meat. Fun stuff. On a side note, did you notice the odd stuff in Discovery One compaired to the other spaceships (not the space station).

Let there be light like how it took 2 minutes of darkness for the movie to show any light. Very interesting idea

Effective use of the many still images and intercutting with the brisk narration which relates the old Bible story in a whole new context. Never thought of the monolith quite that way before...

Thank you very much , yes I really think the Monolith can be thought of as a Tree of Knowledge in a way 👍

Love this begining. At the same way that i love the 47 minutes ending of apocalypse now. I think the world its starting to follow the way of thinking of Stanley Kubrick's master mind and his followers all over the XX century. I'm sorry. but I am not going to agree on this. The biblical elements were put in front of the human eyes to exercise dominance and power. So that we do not forget them. Western civilization has been built with that book. And I think Kubrick has been a better example than I dont know, King David, Salomon, Jonah, may be Jesus Nazareth or Pontius Pilate ¿could have been?. We believe him, he showed us that there are connections and bridges between the spirit and science. ¡Long Live Stanley!

I think you're onto something, and now I'm wondering if there might be other biblical stuff in the film. (I don't think one needs to be a Christian to recognize that the Bible is a foundational myth/story. You can use the structure without buying into the religion. James Joyce used The Oddessey as a foundation for his novel Ulysses, but I'm pretty sure he didn't worship Zeus. :) )

Yes , I agree , I think Kubrick is using the Book of Genesis as a sort of framework for the first part of the film . And I'm also curious if there's other encoded stuff later in the film too 🤔

It is much more than a myth. It is absolute reality.

The Photographer is Satan. What? In Job 1:7 God asks Satan: "Where have you been?" Satan says he's been "walking back and forth on the earth watching everything that's happening." 📸

Don’t assume Kubrick was not religious. Every single one of his movies says otherwise. The last one especially. Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords! 👑🔥🕊️
