HI SHIM! Its a pleasure comment on your channel. first of all , that! Well lets back to the business. I think Stanley Kubrick was and will be the Greatest Filmaker Ever That is a Fact! for me the thing is, The Shining and 2001, a space odissey are a work of a genius the two greater film ever made. Then we have all the rest. The films on Kubrick'S work like a system of engines. He made his own collection that is HIS WORK like and artist, like any other guy in history of art. Dante, Napoleon, Van Gogh, Leonardo Da Vinci, Homer and Virgilio. Big etc. Below these two great films are Barry Lyndon, Full Metal Jacket, A clockwork orange and Dr Strangelove, Lolita its a unique piece of obsesion and rebel. Path of Glory its amazing! Spartacus, The Killing and Killer kiss are big steps in his creative process of his mind.

About the enticing Bill to the party, I think Nick might’ve just been bragging/making small talk with his events at the parties and unintentionally entices Bill (after his argument with Alice) for his search of an affair and Bill does tell Nick that he has a family since they talk about their kids and wives and work and stuff when they get their drinks. And when Bill sees the written password and asks for the location, Nick is pretty reluctant about him going to the party not because he needs a robe and a mask but because he knows and acknowledges the danger he’s risking on himself and Bill.

I’ve tried to leave my email in a comment but the comment won’t post so I’m not leaving it this time or if you have a social media site that is best to send you stuff that’s fine whatever works best for you. I think you would really like this info. I can send you a few examples and if you like them(which I think you will) I can send a bunch more. I don’t have great tech skills and I have an old phone so I can’t make a decent video. This will definitely add some new snd interesting layers to The Shining. Well organized (and argued!). My favorites are Eyes Wide Shut and probably Lolita -i.e. Kubrick on Love and he really did have something to say on the subject, especially in his last film. Speaking of love, I'm glad you gave a little to Killer's Kiss and didn't exile it to the Not My Cup Of Tea tier. It really started his career and isn't a half-bad underground NY movie.

Not a bad list. Even though Kubrick said he hated Fear and Desire, it was not a bad movie. I had a hard time getting into Killer's Kiss. I totally understand your thoughts on Lolita, but after realizing the Shining (the movie) is told by an unreliable narrator and learning that the book Lolita is also told by an unreliable narrator. I got myself watching Lolita, because I wanted to see if Kubrick was dropping breadcrumbs. And he was. My opinion is nobody got Lolita correct except for Kubrick (and lets not forget that the author Lolita was there helping him with the script). The book is inspired from HH Holmes, Earle Nelson and Burke/Hare. If you do watch Lolita, remember Humbert is narrating the story. He's not going to say he's a monster, but you'll see this guy is the worst of monsters.

@@kubricktheory237 don't want to spoil too much about the movie. Start by following Humbert band-aids. Pay attention to the scenes. I posted a short video talking about the letter Humbert was reading and Kubrick purposely shows light through the pages. Unfortunately I can't get Nabokov fans to verify my findings. I did found an English Professor that confirms my thoughts about the Foreword (he's also an Unreliable Narrator)

Hey Shim, have you heard of the Dekalog film series by Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski? Kubrick is quoted saying that "it was the only masterpiece he could think of" and wrote the foreward to the published screenplays. I just finished the series and couldn't stop thinking about the similarities between Dekalog 3 and Eyes Wide Shut: both are set during Christmas, both involve romance, characters in both films view a body in the morgue in the hopes of identifying it, etc. The connections between the two films seems really underexplored across the internet given how much Eyes Wide Shut is analysed and the fact that Kubrick is a known admirer of the Dekalog series. Thought it could be an interesting topic for a future video. Love the channel

The Rothchilds, A Billionaire Family from Centuries ago til today, had similar Power-Orgies in England that had Royalty,Other Wealthy People & Political Leaders invited. The Castle is a Replica of the Rothchilds Mansion. I think Kubrick was telling us all to watch closely at the symbolism, the timing & the people involved. In the end, in the Toy store, The Married couple leave their only daughter to be led away by older men- The movie ends there. Very telling about What kind of People Actually Run this planet.

The film seems to show us the protagonist who doesn't know what to look for, he is waiting to be surprised. I think Kubrick meant that he made 12 films. Number 13 does not seem like part of his glorious collection. Magic is ancestral and knows no regions. Depending on wich! region of the world we speak from and what our culture is, it will depend on where we define magic. We have the orient culure and occidental culture. I said this because Stanley Kubrick's Universe (SK UC) its covers the entire world of cinema, as a whole. Like we went out the horbite and see the Mother Earth form 237.000 meters! I believe that something happens in that circle. but unfortunately nothing that has to do with the script. I mean seriously the story its simple and monotonous. I am gonna make a joke of this...i think that Kubrickwas so tired, that maybe he imagine his picture of 159 minutos in just A Short Movie from 01:10:58 to 01:30:01 That i colud called "explaining the shining, a movie that i made 29 years ago". It is very remarkable how the absence of the camera in the overlook hotel makes the entire sequence of Bill's arrival at the palace have a very important meaning. Not for the movie itself.

I blame the screenwriter. No, sorry. Hal...was Hal all the time. The two astronauts doesnt give us a clue of enemsty. They are only victims of greater power...through tech. The playful, gamer vision that Stanley's mind has is exceptional.

Beautiful Video! I'd like to think in the paint of Diego Velazquez, Las Meninas. I recomend the start of the Michel Foucault's "Las palabras y las cosas" The words and things. Its an amazing reflection of light, paint, art creation and the civilized world we are living. And the principles of cinematic and optical cience. Recently i saw a movie called Blink Twice, with Channing Tatum. Its a good, only good movie. I didnt liked very much the end...but its all right. Well the art of that movie had a a lot of things or references of Kubrick´s film. Also another movie, Kind of Kindness. With the great Willem Dafoe. There is a story what counts that The Beatles approached Stanley Kubrick asking him adapt the trilogy of The Lords Of The Rings.

Metaphors of that cosmic psychosis, the sound and music was crucial for saying all this. i am very shocked and surprised. Okey i think i got it... the laberynth its like the palace and backwards. And i have a good reason...Kubrick spaces have changed for ever since he made Barry Lyndon. I mean the idea of Game Society or i dont know who to say it or put it. The interreleted with the animation imaginary. The message...the final message in the film is. On my criterion that We Are All Toys in this world. I cant forget the sound of Road Runner or Mighty Angelo image from The Shining. When i see all those bears and tigers in the TOY STORE. May be the final message isnt very clear or very especific. This point its kind of strange or vague. In a few words...No bad and Good Guys. That is for the Bible imaginary. The angle and shut of the total and complete circle, its and Orient idea or emotion. The idea of completeness. What only Meditation can give, for example. All those creatures with mask are like the comic V from vendetta. And the metaphore here is the sincerity that Bill Harford transmits. The idea of the Caretaker in the spaces of an imaginary NYC builted in london.
