Sorry for the supercharger set back. But I’m excited to see how it turns out now along with the rest of the build

I loved this episode. I don’t know why, but including the owner and him sharing the history and knowledge of the build really was cool. I also own an RSX Type S with the same JRSC (bought installed) and I loved the breakdown because I’m not too familiar with the system.

There’s just certain parts you buy brand new. Spend the extra cash and avoid the headaches from the beginning.

That supercharger was discontinued over a decade ago, I bought a used a similar discontinued comptech one dor my rsx-s that had 10k miles on it inspected it it was good just replaced the oil. Benefit of these older ones here in Cali is that they are still street legal/CARB approved. New ones are not.

@@matthewpere1975 why is Cali so strict with all the rules? I’m in Chicago, and it’s nothing like it is up there I feel.
@matthewpere19755 ай бұрын
@@RiveraRevolutions it California they think putting anything other than a drop in filter or a muffle tip will change the emissions to such a level that your car is the cause of pollution of the entire planet. It's ridiculous can't even buy a aftermarket catalytic converter to replace the one that was stolen. like any where else in the country they $200, here it has to be California approved which only available from the car dealer so 10 times the price.

Am I the only honda guy who doesn't hate the USDM 00-01 Integra front end?

I was an EG/EK Civic forum mod on Honda-Tech. I love the USDM frontend from 98-01. 94-97 is a little boxy, but still fine. The JDM front end looks like a Prelude IMO.

Don't even clown around with that M62, send it to Jon Bond Performance LLC. They will evaluate if it is salvageable, if it is, & rebuild it right. He rebuilt my CL-S6 CT-E SC'er, after 100K miles, in 2015 and did a superb job.
@Mark-c5l5 ай бұрын
It appears that one or both of the closed cap rear needle bearings housing the rotor ends, especially the top one @19:30, may have failed or were installed incorrectly and subsequently failed? It may be the angle, though, the top rotor seems out of center. As a result, the rotors were loose and out of alignment causing them to contact the case, as they turned at high rpm, transferring material as witnessed on the case & rotors.
@vteckillerfa55 ай бұрын
Funny, you should suggest that cause that’s exactly where it went to get rebuilt.
@Mark-c5l5 ай бұрын
@@vteckillerfa5 Nice! That prudent choice makes up for this fateful 'roll of the dice' purchase from the face creep market place, lol. Special repair jigs, tooling, & rebuild techniques, along with years of experience, offered by JBP, will hopefully resurrect that M62. Also, those rotors and case housings can be powder coated, in house, if desired.
@fidelj30255 ай бұрын
It looks like the previous owner over spun the supercharger unit beyond its RPM limit, good chance it had a small SC pulley with a bigger crank pulley. over spinning the SC will cause the rotors to expand and hit the internal wall of the casing. get it rebuilt with new bearings, o rings, port the case housing, rebalance the rotors and have it coated. Oh little history lesson, Jackson Racing and Comptech/CTE uses the Magnuson MP62 line of supercharger unit but Jackson Racing uses a different type of case design and manifold!
