I have a question on the cause for my JD Buck not starting in gear? Put the rear brake on and depress the clutch, no starting unless it's in park.

Most likely has a safety switch on the transmission. You might be able to bypass it but I’ve never looked into it

hey man! nice machine, i got a 05 JD trail buck 500 cvt myself! just picked it up in november and been doing a bunch of upgrades on it over the winter, new 27" tires, light bars, aftermarket headlights, new belt, fresh fluids/filters, winch fairlead/stopper, raised the suspension up some, inspected the top end and did a leakdown test and compression test, its about all ready for spring ! you did a good job on that traxter! that dump box is huge! lol thanks for the vid man u got my subscription ! btw did your JD ever have a problem spitting a tiny bit of oil back into the air box at all ?? mine seems to be doing that even after a compression test reading of 110psi and a leakdown test of 70psi and only losing 3psi of that. did some research and it seems some of them just do that naturally? lol. let me know if yours did the same! thank you

I don’t think I had this issue. Are you sure it’s not gas over flowing from the carburetor?

The only time I had this issue on a bike is on a Kawasaki bayou it was spraying oil out of the crankcase breather hose. It ended up being a cracked piston allowing blow by into the crankcase

@@atvrepairsandmore2482 positive it's not gas. It's oil for sure. Inspected the top end and all good. Leak down test and compression test passed. It doesn't smoke at all. Lots of power. Easy to start. But dribbles a bit of oil back thru the pick up tube into the airbox. Not alot. Like say after a 8hr drive I'd have a cpl mills worth of oil on the bottom. It's weird for sure.

@@atvrepairsandmore2482 made sure that's okay too! I've been kinda stumped on this prob for a bit now. All I do is keep a bit of oil in the storage just in case needs topped up on long trips. Oh well. Thanks for the help tho man! Appreciate it

Why is it that mine is so hard to steer like it's so stiff and tight like if I leave go of one arm or something it feels like it's going to roll or take off some other place

I would look up on google a parts diagram and find the correct part number and copy it to eBay. I usually find everything on eBay. Might be hard to find one for your machine because the bucks are a little hard to find

Where abouts can you purchase a piston ring set for this bike?

I usually look up a parts diagram and get the ring part number. After that, I will search eBay, Amazon, dealerships, etc. for the part. 80% of my parts come from Ebay
