2001 Briggs 8hp 319cc L head (flathead) engine. Best engines ever produced. 🇺🇸

Given this engine half apart by a neighbor who did not know how to repair it. Re-assembled it and runs like a champ. Long live the flathead. 1956-2003 (end U.S. production).

It’s definitely been a while since your last post. About that whole brass sleeve governor issue with the 5.0 formula engine, yes, I am aware of that problem, it shares that problem with the Enduro engine and several others in the series. But like I said before this engine isn’t going to be running much, only going to be used for demonstration purposes. And if it does have that issue, I have a little trick up my sleeve to repair it. And not all of these engines have those problems. It’s almost like the same case with the Ford 5.4 3 valve engine with the cam phaser and oil pressure issues. Ford never did a recall on them because not all of them had those problems.

If you repair it, make a video. I checked multiple engines of that make before I condemned it. I found it to be widespread its the shape of that block, location of the brass fitting in correlation to the slinger. The oil gets tossed right at the tube. If you get your hands on 1 of these Briggs flathead I would make it a keeper, really great engines, far superior to that Tecumseh OHV. If they didn't leak their oil they would be fine. If your able to fix it, it will be an okay little engine.

Nah, don't think so. Closest thing I did was adding an alternator and LED to a snowblower.

@@Mr_Tecumseh I’m trying to put the tecumseh 611104 stator on a 8hp that had a pull start on it, now I have to make it an electric start. The new stator only has 2 output wires 1AC & 1DC and I would like to use the AC power to charge the battery but I can’t find out how to hook it up
