Excellent video dude. Glad I found your channel. No screwing around with other pipes or anything.

I am the original owner of a 2001 Chevy Venture with 175K mile. Still runs perfectly and the paint is almost like it came off of the show room floor. Just replaced the crazy heater hose nest near the thermostat going to the firewall. That has been the only repair on the vehicle in over a decade. I plan to hopefully get another 175K out of it. Enjoyed the video.

First Off, I would like to thank you for the time you spent making the video. People like you, help so many others accomplish things they might not normally do. I have done a few thermostat replacements over the years, and they are almost always the same thing. But on Newer cars(2000 and after) the difficulty lies in getting to the part being replaced. And this one was giving me a massive headache that I thought you solved. So I started the task, and started removing the throttle and am tearing my hair out. I got the top 13mm bolt out, and the 10mm nut off the front lower area, and the 1st nut off the rear bolt. But then there is the metal mounting bracket. And for the life of me, I can't figure out how you got to that nut or how you got that bold out. In your video you explain how it is back there, but You already have it out before starting the video, So it doesn't show how you did it. Could you please help and let me know how you did it. I am stuck at this point and can go no farther....
@YTConceptionX3 жыл бұрын
Did you figure it out? You need to move the metal bracket out of the way and gently force your deep socket with an extension onto it. Thats what I did in order to get it off. Wish I had read your comment before I did it so I could have done a short vid on it.

The back of the thermostat housing is slotted so you don't need to fully remove the bolt to take the housing out .

I watched this twice and you never covered that black line that runs in the front of the motor and then around by the throttle and has the two hoses connected to it I've taken the two hoses off that are connected to it right underneath the throttle but there's still no give to the line what do you got to do to that line to get give to it? You didn't show any sign that you had removed it from the back or the other side I don't understand how you got so much flexibility out of that black line that you could pull it away from the stud after you took the the 13 off of the throttle body to get to that nut behind it how do you get that black line to be so flexible and give you working space behind the stud to get to the second bolt?

The GearWrench ratcheting wrench only fit because you had already broken it loose and backed it out a little which raises the head of the bolt enough that the thicker ratchet head can clear the thermometer housing’s “dome.” You recommended that people save money with one from Harbor Freight but I have the HF Quinn ratcheting wrenches from their 428pc Master Technician set and it definitely doesn’t fit. :( I had to do it with the open end of the 13mm box wrench where I could only get 1/12th of a turn at a time (flip wrench and reseat each time to exploit the angled head to move it barely enough to get the next position seated).

How did you get that stud out? I have done everything, accept for the stud. Otherwise, I cant get the throttle off. Did you have to take anything else apart for the black hose to move it. (Just learning here, lol) otherwise, my moves, but I think that back stud is stopping it from coming out.

the 2 coolant hoses on the bottom of the throttle body is just regular off the self hoses? or special molded hoses?
@elmechanic3 жыл бұрын
There special in the sense they would have to be ordered but they are just like a 5/16 regular hoses just be patient they will be fine for reuse appreciate the love
@ryans413 Жыл бұрын
You can buy regular 5/16 hose and just cut it to fit and reuse clamps or get new ones.

You need a 13mm and 10mm socket some Dexcool coolant a flashlight helps and a clamp remover tool and a hose pick to get the rubber hoses off. That’s about all you need.
