CalVan makes a special wrench that costs about 12 bucks that is specially shaped to get that back bottom bolt it the housing so you don't need to do so those disconnections if the exhaust and the other shit. It's like u shaped and just goes around everything and goes back up around to the bolt and you just unscrew it like any other bolt

I noticed that the throttle body was in your way the entire time. Would it be easier to just pull the 3 or 4 bolts and move it out of the way? I'm getting ready to do this job and was wondering. I have the same EXACT symptoms. Car wont heat up to operating temp, gas mileage is bad, and the heat isn't kicking out like it used to. I think the thermostat is stuck open. Other than that, it's a 20 year old Oldsmobile with 125,230 miles on it and it runs like a champ. My wife has a 2011 Chevy Cruz that gives us way more problems than my 20 year old Alero. They dont build em like they used to. I think my next car will have carbs. I'm going to buy something really old with a V8. Lol

We left the throttle body on so we did not have to replace the throttle body to intake gasket. A vacuum leak at the throttle body / intake gasket can cause a stall out or rough idle. Once you get it a part you will see there is a fair amount of room to work. Your right they don't build them like they use to. Today's vehicles might get better fuel mileage, but the repair cost just about balance out the fuel savings out. /K&K

@@KNKRNR ive pulled the TB on my 3.1 at least 5 times..... no leaks . its a 100% reusable gasket..... at least by design but if ya live in an area with no rust..... and actually wash the engine once in a while.... it will seal just fine

I imagine this would be almost identical for an 04 pontiac montana, same engine.

Yup the only changes would be in the emission systems. /K&K

I do understand the exahast part but dam it took me as long as your video to do the whole job....no worrys were all trying to help...

The video aim was to show Viewers that anybody including a 17 year old at the time could follow this video and get the job done right once the first time. We aim for quality repair work, we don't rush through stuff or cut corners. Yes some people including myself could do that job faster in less time but that wasn't the point of this video! Why did these comments come under spam?
