Thank you very informative! similar with your case, my 2001 Mazda tribute (Escape's twin) is throwing the same code! hopefully it goes away with a simple solenoid replace and hopefully wiring is ok.

Question adam I have an1409 EGR Vaccum Regulator Solenoid Circ I replaced it ran it for about 40 miles engine light came back on. What else can it be? Should I clear the code again and run it straight for 70 miles or plus. My other question after clearing the code can I do multiple ride cycles for code to reset or needs to be done in one driving cycle.

I have a 2003 model, I did that procedure to mine and start doing misfires. I had tu place back the original part back.

Was your new part an OEM/Ford/Motorcraft part? When sensors are involved, it is usually better to pay extra for a proven part. I've had to learn the hard way.

Is the top round circle peice suppose to spin right and left? I noticed on my wife's car it'll spin easliy when I was doing some trouble shooting on terminal/contacts.

I checked and watched numerous people when I was recently changing my egr valve on this same model - '03 NOT ONE of them mentioned that there was another possibility for the Code.. This part you are replacing here... My question is... Wtf is wrong with these mechanics that are supposedly trying to help people? Is it not elementary to tell the novice that IT MIGHT be this solenoid thing and not the valve itself? I didnt hear it mentioned by one of them... You think you are being helped by people who know how... But then it turns out they are completly leaving vital stuff out... Soooo frustrating.

Hey Adam I have a 04 Ford escape I noticed recently that my engine sounds a little louder than normal and shakes a little while driving.i am very loyal to my oil change every 90 days because I do alot of driving had a little work done on her recently.i had a coolant leak and a small oil leak.can that be the cause of my engine running louder

It's part of your emissions if it's stuck closed you just have higher pollutants if it's stuck open your car will run like crap. Either way your check engine light will be on.

Mine is on... I'm noticing power seem less than normal (tad sluggish) and idle is a bit rough (no misfiring). Almost forgot my MPG is 19.1 for last tank (when light came on) and I was getting closer to 20-21 before.

I got a 2003 Ford Escape v6 when I'm at a stoplight when it's in drive and I turn my AC on it drops idle and wants to die but if I turn my AC off it goes back to normal idle

hmm, I would start by checking the idle air control vale to make sure that is clean and working properly. it could also be something not communicating to tell the computer the ac is on and to compensate.

After the solenoid was replaced there was a squealing noise every time the engine was running.

What is the connector just to the right of the solenoid?? I cant seem to figure it out! Connected to whats seems to be a flat object..

Hey adam i replaced the solenoid and it actually made the rough idle worse, as tho the car wanted to die. Do you suspect it of being the wire, as well?

JJ Jetplane yes i would suspect the wire, it will look fine but the wire breaks right at the connector. I picked up a new connector at the local parts store.

JJ Jetplane super easy i used a weather proof crimp connectors after i cut the old plug off.

I have an 06 Ford Escape. Im tired of throwing money into it can someone please help. This is what it is doing The car start and drive great for 4 miles then it will stop pulling. U can turn the car off let it cool down and restart and it does the same thing all over. Please help!

Check the wiring, it could be bad at the connector just like this one was. Also you may need to reset the check engine light or wait for a drive cycle for it to go out.

@@adamanderson8631 question I also replaced part engine light it’s on after driving like 45 miles engine light came back on. How many miles would a drive cycle be. Do I have to reset the engine light and begin a new drive cycle for engine light to reset.
