Nowadays it's possible to sellout a race. It's a disgrace! Watching these old races just brings a smile to my face this was when NASCAR was great! This is the way it should be! No stages👍🏼

A. Prada The NASCAR Rookie Class of 1998 was just full of unlucky drivers. Jerry Nadeau had to call it after a devastating crash at Richmond in 2003, Kenny Irwin lost his life in 2000, and Steve Park was still racing till 2010 but had to be let go from DEI after 2002, if he didn't crash or even ran that Busch race he would've kept racing till the 2010's.

Back when people respected the Brickyard and didn't demand it off the schedule because they deem it boring. I wish today's NASCAR quote un-quote "fans" would stop complaining about the quote un-quote "boring race tracks" that don't have 90 crashes and cars flipping and catching on fire all the time. It disgusts me. This track is sacred. To say that ANY type of racing series that races on it is boring is basically spitting on it's hallowed grounds.
@zanemarte98776 жыл бұрын
UltimateEEnEFan I have been seeing these Brickyard 400s become some of THE WORST racing EVER in modern times since 2000. But this past season and in this season as of 2018 NASCAR and the Xfinity Series drivers are experimenting with a different kind of an aero package, this is an attempt to bunch up the cars together and keep them together side to side and not give the leaders an UNFAIR advantage against everybody else. Here are the basics of that package. Air Ducts on the nose, a taller rear spoiler, and restrictor plates they use at Daytona and Talladega I was hoping NASCAR would enforce that aero package in the Cup series by the 2018 Brickyard 400, but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen by then. Maybe for Indianapolis and all tracks 2 miles or more in length except for Daytona and Talladega in 2019.
@NotSteveCook4 жыл бұрын
The track isn't the problem. If the cars weren't underpowered and over aero-engineered, they would be prone to sliding around more, and they would need to scrub off more speed in the corners; thus, the drivers' input would matter more.

@chrisuncleahmad66610 жыл бұрын
To me, NASCAR lost their ways once they changed to Sprint Cup. NASCAR's highest TV ratings season ever was 2005- AKA the Nextel Cup era! And the great 2004 title run- I didn't mind NEXTEL Cup. I kinda sorta understood the Winston change since, well, they are cigarettes. To me, Sprint Cup was when it went wrong- even when it was called the Nextel Cup, at least the cars still looked like real cars. I'm glad Jimmie at least was able to win 1 title in the real cars before the CoT sprung up.

***** I think it went downhill because of the same thing that I think contributed to the accident that killed Dale Earnhardt and that is trying to run the race as a "team," instead of individual drivers racing to win. Had Dale Earnhardt been in his natural role of racing for the lead that fateful day, he might still be alive. Big teams, big money serving each other, and the fans are just expected to pay for it.

It's interesting how Gordon used to win all the time back in these days and was well known but now days, he runs well, wins once in a while, and is probably not that well known as much as a Stewart or Johnson or Hamlin or someone like that. Hope it turns out to be a case like Earnhardt where he faded for a couple years and then found his way back.

This race went from one of the most prestigious in Nascar, to the most demoralizing race on the calendar. I know that there's still a good 70K people that show up, but that looks like child's play when the place can seat 250K. The lack luster racing only adds fuel to the flames. If it's successful with the Xfinity series, maybe running the race on the road course can revitalize the Brickyard 400. If they don't do that, maybe Roger Penske can work his magic and somehow draw big crowds back for the Brickyard 400. Even if none of that happens, atleast the Indy 500 still draws great crowds every May.
