Md outrebounded duke 50 -34 ! Hit just as many 3s. But MD had 21 turnovers to Duke 7. Turnovers killed terps in the end. But MD vs Duke rivalry of late 99s and early 2000s is one of the best rivalries in ncaa history. Was so intense. Both teams really went at it

And although UNC started off 2000-01 very strong they faded badly down the stretch.

maryland should have slowed the game down in the 2nd half, instead they kept playing fast and making turnovers and giving duke many chances to score and come back.maryland made the mistake of trying to keep playing in transition. that did give them the lead, but it also lost them the lead too, they should have slowed it down in the 2nd half and used the clock

1. Blake is smart, always played the drive and had the size and depth behind him. Marylands team d was outstanding 2. Some of this narrative is overrated. J will actually took over the last two or three minutes of this game on offense. He also beat Blake off the dribble repeatedly Earlier and the game. JW absolutely murdered Blake in Cameron the following year. Probably the best game he ever played at duke
