RIP Bobby Bowden. I recall 3 OU -FSU Orange Bowls , all won by OU. This one in 2000, 1980 & 1981. For as much as Bowden won in his career he was gracious in defeat. So few of his peers are still around. They helped make the game classy and fun to watch.

Oklahoma did have a good defense that year, but they were not a dominating defense, like some we've seen win National Championships. But, like you said, they played the game of their life in this Orange Bowl, and FSU couldn't ever get anything going. Too, OU's offense did do a good job of controlling the ball. I was big FSU fan when Bowden was there and this was such a disappointing game. They let one get away that night and little did we know at the time, but they would never be back there under Coach Bowden.

When OU’s defense was dominant

They are more than half of the way back to being dominant. 2 lock down corners from it. Just need an offense to go with it. BOOMER!!

Defensive masterpiece. The offense gave up 2 more points than the defense. Florida state had some good opportunities too, took clutch as in the endzone to stop them

I was there, never did think that Bob Stoops would never win another NC. Miami acted like they had beaten Florida State 35-0 or something

Miami acted like they didn’t lose to Washington during the regular season of that same year which ultimately proved to be costly in the minds of those bcs computers.

Miami beat Florida State when Chris Weinke had an injured foot and even with that they had to come from behind in the fourth quarter to win after blowing an early lead, and they Virginia Tech when Michael Vick was even more seriously injured and couldn't even make the start of the game. 2000 Miami was a really fine team, but definetly not the juggernaught they would become in the two years after

I knew when Mark Richt left FSU for Georgia. FSU didn’t have enough time to gel with Jeff Bowden.

Oklahoma played good that night but were far from unbeatable even by FSU ... Missed throws, dropped passes when they were on target, and no ability to make field goals cost FSU the game

Ha yeah if eveybody played perfect they wouldn't lose right lol lol lol C'mon man seriously!!

The missed catches were caused by alligator arms that's what happens when wide receivers get the snot knocked out of them. Full credit to the Oklahoma Sooners. You forget about the Florida State wide receiver laid out in the end zone.

That team wasn't losing to anybody that year. They did what they needed to do every game, including this one. FYI, you sound retarded.😊
