BEST VIDEO!!! I watched a half a dozen other videos for replacing this starter. This video is absolutely the best one I've seen. Thank you so much for the clarity!

Glad it helped! ❤

I may have to try this myself or with a little help from my friends! I have had to put two starters in my 1997 S10 2.2L and now (12/24/24) it needs another one! It is a bit hard to find videos on this year, make, model and engine. This was the best one I have seen so far. Bravo! I subbed and liked as well.

@@valerieshick9240 yea its rough out here

Yes, things are very rough out here but we don't steel. How do you think the person feels that worked very hard to buy it?! Then someone like you came around and stole it. You're going to have bad Karma and Karma is going to TAX you!! Steeling isn't cool and is childish... besides ILLEGAL!

No I didn't replace the starter. I figured it couldn't be the starter if it starts but dies when I release the handbrake. I even bought one and returned it already. I just had my S10 towed to a shop to have a diagnostic. Unfortunately going to spend a lot of money on something that's probably cheap and easy to fix. I'll let you all know what they find.

TIP: Try using 1/4 drive tools when doing this job. 3/8 is much too bulky. 1/4 is a game changer in tight spaces👍🏻

Anyone know what the issue could be if I replaced the starter and when I tried to plug the battery back up it automatically tries to crank the engine?
@fatbuddycat2 ай бұрын
13mm and 15mm are the sizes of wrenches required.

Is easier if you drop the starter first then while hanging remove the power cable

Boy anything on this truck is a F'in Project. but when i work on newer shit i feel like a pro lol. good truck to learn on for sure.

I thought the newer vehicles would be harder, but then again the newest thing I have is 2008!Definitely good to learn on and although not fun, it’s rewarding once finished. Thanks for the view!

Hi... my problem is that it MIGHT start but as soon I pull the parking brake lever, engine dies. After that... all day, it won't start at all anymore. The dash lights light up, interior light lights up, had battery tested, it's good but engine won't crank at all. Nothing.

Did you find the problem?

@@jayhemoon1904 Hi, No not yet. I think it's the fuel pump but haven't replaced that yet.

I have the same truck. It is difficult to work on. Access is a challenge.

Music is obnoxious and unnecessary. Great video. Can you put a link to the new starter and offset wrenches?

he's comfortable and trusting of those jack stands for sure. I'm guessing he does it that way because he's righthanded to get more power on the wrench.
@joeyBOOSTED Жыл бұрын
@@BigAlWillisExactly, the other way would be difficult for the torque needed for some bolts. For other jobs, I slide the standard way. And yes, I do trust those jack stands, but only with the jack as backup.
@BigAlWillis Жыл бұрын
@@joeyBOOSTED they have a new style jackstand that locks onto your hydraulic Jack & its quick locking. Once your Jack is up you place it in the front of the Jack it locks from the wheels to the plate. Its pretty neat. Lookup Jack rod

Mine keeps cranking even if my keys off as well now I know I'm not crazy replacing it

Yup, mine did it so much I thought it was ignition related at first. Still good now months later!
