Not bad, next time start under the hood when you show it off. I was about to move on till you started talking about your turbo specs and how you made it truly custom. I had a green 01 V40 I put a drop kit on, threw some 18” low pros on it, tinted 5% on all windows and windshield, put a custom built in air compressor and self retracting hose reel behind the plastic panels on the left side of the trunk by the quarter panel and that was was sick. I had a bunch of turbo crap laying around from putting a turbo on my BMW E36 318TI so I started trying out parts on the Volvo. All said and done I put a ram horn turbo header made for a 1.9-2.0L BMW motor with a Turbonetics T3/T4 ball bearing turbo, 38mm Greddy external waste gate and BOV, short screamer pipe on the gate so it had a good tone to it, replaced all the stock intercooler piping with 3” aluminum and all seams were seal welded, front mount intercooler of corse, and 3” exhaust no mufflers or cats just a test pipe. Had the wrong spring in my waste gate when I first got on it and I almost shit when I seen the boost climb to 18psi before cracking open. I only ran mine 10-12 psi tops since all my internals were stock. I got about 13,000 miles out of that motor before popping the head clean off doing some stupid shit. It was all worth it. Oh here’s a tip, only use OEM spark plugs in that motor, I think they were iridium. Absolutely nothing but original factory spec plugs or it will never run right.

That was a older model 1000watt Kenwood amp on the the top of box.

Thanks. Not alot of aftermarket support in the United States for this vehicle so it take some searching for parts. Right now im building a E85 fuel system for it. So far i have a TRE Performance 377 fuel pump and Apex Racing 1-160psi rising rate Fpr and Apex 17.5mm billet fuel rail and Apex Racing inline magnetic fuel filter and bosch 1150cc injectors. Just waiting for all the snow to melt before i install. After that i have some exhaust work to do and it will be ready for final remap. Im expecting 270hp off 93 and 300+ off E85. Final boost will be 16psi.

Update wire harness or ecu ended up killing the car. It developed a no crank no start issue that I could not find and fix. I tried everything I could think of and replaced numerous parts before giving up and parting the car out.

Does the gearbox and driveshaft survive with that upgrade? Done someting with the engine? I have a t3 with t4 turbo and bigger injectors and fuel pump. The car is tune and the boost is 1 bar. Want to do more but how fare can i go before i blow the engine and the rest of the car

So far ive had no issue with either. Most agree that 300hp is limit of stock rods. With a set of forged rods as high as 350 before u will start running into sleeve issues. There are people who have built them as high as 1000whp

Right now im running low boost only 10psi until i complete the fuel system im working on and then it will be tuned by upsolute again. Right now i would say its at about 210hp. Final goal is 270

Sorry for late reply. No the 2.4t uses a TD04HL 13t or 15t they have a larger turbine so it would not fit.

osmosis 01 There are a lot of overseas aftermarket support shops. Like BSR and KL racing that sell performance parts. Nuke sells a nice fuel rail. What parts are you looking for?

When it comes to exhaust i will add that it is cheaper to build ur own. As the downpipe from bsr is almost 400$ alone. And the catback is like another 1200$. Our cars use same fuel sending pump as the neon SRT4 so the walbro 255 or the tre 377 are direct fit. Apex racing and Nuke Performance both make aftermarket fuel rails and fuel Pressure Regulators. Kl racing makes a direct fit all aluminum intercooler Carid makes body kits. Cx racing and BC both make coilovers. E3 makes great plugs for high boost. Ngk has upgraded coilpack. HKS makes the best bov in my opinion. EBC makes brake upgrades. And we share the same platform as the lancer evo 3 so any suspension and brake parts will work along with DSM 1st gen duel piston calipers. The parts are out there. Just pricy.

@@tripp1379 I was curious about the forge atmospheric blow-off valve kit they sell?. I know it has a plate that blocks the factory spot where the excess boost gets recirculated back to the manifold. Going this route do you know how the ECU compensates for this or if it makes a difference with performance? I'm doing it just for the sound alone and hoping it doesn't take away from the performance

The forge kit is nice. I personally prefer HKS they sound best and have better springs i think. But the block is available for 15$ on ebay. Ali express IPD makes 1. Its just common cvb block plate. Same the neon srt4 uses and alot of other turbos. You can run a good used bov for maybe 150$. Like greddy or hks or forge. Take it from me and go with a real name brand bov or you will get leaks. I tried 2 diff ebay 50$ bov. A greddy style and hks and both worked and sounded nice but would leak past 10psi. If you look on ebay right now you will see a used hks already mounted on a 40 hard charge pipe. The flange is already welded on and the black hks is already snapped into it. He wants like 100$ I believe. Its a older model hks with a few scratches but im sure it works great.

I admire you for you’re work on that turbo tho I’m actually gonna do a 14t cartridge swap as well... you think the housing needs to be ported tho?? And I was dabbling with the idea on a after market intercooler with metal tubing because the oem is really insufficient

I just used a cheap aluminum ebay block off plate so I could run the bov.

Our cars share the same platform as the Mitsubishi Lancer evo 3 so and coilovers made for the evo 3 will fit same with brakes and all suspension parts. Then there are companies like CX racing and BC that make coilovers for our cars. Along with the cheapest set sold online that are TA Technix that sell for about 400$. The BC coilovers are what most go for including me the run about 1100$ but are 30step ajustable.

That is correct . Besides the turbo and tune and option of manual trans the cars are same. This car has a bigger turbo then T4 and is running the T4 stage 2 tune.

You can go on ebay and order rolls of whatever size u need or have a shop replace it. You can also get stainless steel if u live in a place were it snows.

If your in the United states the is a guy named Andre that does the Upsolute tune located in SOuth Carolina. There is also over seas companies like BSR that tune the S40/V40. I use Upsolute they are well known and do great work. It takes about 2 weeks to ship the ecu off and have it tuned and shipped back.

I had the ecu remapped by upsolute almost 2 years ago when the vehicle was stock. It needs a new map to be able to safely run the new mods at the 15psi i want out of. Im working on a fuel system at the moment and then i have exhaust work to do be the final map.

There's also ways to adjust the throttle response for the sensor to read a bigger open throttle I can show you it requires a volt meter and such I just bought mine so idk I haven't checked it out

Luke Carter Thats because not many people can tune the ecu. I think there are maybe 5 companies world wide that tune them and all require the ecu to be removed and shipped to them. There are no handheld tunes available or the ability to dyno tune. Most people use either BSR or upsolute and we dont have a bsr in the United States so i use Upsolute for my maps
