@@Giuseppe80271 yes the 1.9t is an actual Volvo engine and it is very reliable IF well maintained. I visited one for sale not very long ago and it sounded like a tractor and had almost no oil in the engine. That said, any engine not taken care of will die. And a Volvo rarely needs anything but the occasional oil and belt change. The 1.9 T4 has thicker cylinder walls than the 2.0 T4 and is therefore theoretically more durable and can for sure endure extreme tunings better. It’s also faster than the 2.0. Then you also have the non T4 2.0 turbo engine. Comes with 163HP. I have that one with a k&n open air filter. Feels a lot quicker, basically the same as the 1.9 in this video. Maybe the 1.9 had some small problems like misfire.

yeah, there are even models that can do 6.4/6.7 to 100 every other car brand (except 3germans) can do that just few years (every1 in vw ids think they are though) but still , this car looks better than any german car, e46m3 e39m5 are also good looking cars, for the rest all cars are almost stupid, even new volvos (yeah they start to like volvos while its not real Volvo anymore) 7sec in a Volvo S40 t4 you are a real pathetic driver, i remember those days my cousin did 4-5sec too 100 (just very little bit clutch) he broke every amg and porsche (even 5years newer)

Wow i havent seen one of these in a LONG time. It was quite an interesting machine when it came out. Turbo cars werent all that common in this segment, you had basically Saab and Volvo competing with the Germans 6 cylinder NA motors and doing very well. Even back then with some tuning these T4s could compete with the E36 M3s in certain scenarios and it was quite incredible to see a car with a engine smaller than 2.0L give a 3.2L 6 cylinder car that cost significantly more a real fright in a straight line.

@@kanavispila Must be. There is no way a FWD V40 even with some tuning is going to come anywhere near a standard E36 M3, even the early 3.0 version with 286bhp, let alone the later 3.2 lol. These did 0-60 in just over 7 secs, even my old E36 328i was faster, when it was standard with 193bhp. It might have a smaller engine but it was turbocharged, and the E36 328i (and M3) were n/a ....

Had a V40 Diesel (95HP) and drove it 110k KM in the first year. Perfect car, only had regular maintenance and nothing else. Once had a T4 as a loaner but the power in the lower RPM was quite low compared to the Diesel.

Im telling you guys, older cars are where it's at. I recently sold my 2008 230bhp Volvo S40 T5 (the successor to this car) simply because it was SOULLESS...even with the 5 cylinder turbo. Cars by that era had reached a point where everything was TOO vague, Too disconnected, TOO computerised. Instead, I replaced it with a 170bhp 1999 Volvo V70 2.4 N/A auto....and I'm doing tasks on it like replacing the shifter bulb, bringing a window switch back to life using electrical contact cleaner.... fitting HALOGEN bulbs....looking at a simple calculator style display for MPG and milege etc... No actual screens anywhere... Treble, Bass and Fader SLIDERS on the stereo.... All of those things that have no become a menu in a touch screen on modern cars... I'm telling you.. go and buy an older car and rejoyce at having a car that feels more analogoue.

Too vague??? So you replaced it with a car that's even vaguer less steering response, less suspension response, less throttle response and more. Literally ever single thing in v70 is more disconnected and vague than in newer s40. If you didn't know 1999 v70 is full of computers too ELECTRIC throttle body, tracs, abs and many more electronics. And those radio sliders can be adjusted way better via screen and it can be put in the main menu.

@@dkdanis1340 Yes... there is something about the MK2 S40 (and V50/C30/C70) that is VERY disconnected... even compared to older Volvos. I have owned four of the Ford Chassis Volvos and they feel completely numb to drive, and the body roll on a stock S40 T5 is a joke compared to P2 S60 or V70. They lack the full feeling of a real Volvo and feel very generic, kinda of like a VW Golf. Yes I know the 1999 cars have electronics in them, but those P80 cars have noticably less modules compared to P2 or P1 volvos. Also, the 2.4 Naturally Aspirated engine in my V70 is obviously going to be more responsive than a turbocharged 2.5 low pressure turbo in the S40 T5.

in the run when you did 100 - 200 almost all the way in 4th gear, the time was comparable with the run when you started on 3th. But when you started on 3th you didnt pull espacialy the 4th gear to higher rews. I think starting on 3th and pulling it to higher rews could give even better result, dont you?

@@The_Noticer. eps isn't an issue. There are many cars with good eps better than hydraulic. It depends from manufacturer. Can't compare average car that's made for easy and comfortable driving it's more practical to have steering that helps with bumps than having one that rips itself from hands. Your accord is a performance model while 2010 one is normal non performance version. Yes it's newer but can't compare apples to oranges You can tune the eps to make it better. Try something like toyota gt86, new supra, bmw m series to see what real steering feel is. Btw 2004 isn't that old.

@@dkdanis1340 I dont like people saying someone's personal opinion is invalid. You dont know my reference either, you asume I haven't driven anyting else. Also the Type-S isn't usually a performance model, more of a sports trim. The Type-R Honda's are the performance models. Even the base spec Accord CL9 or CM2 had better steering feel. The CU1 and CU2 steering feel is just dead. I would say though, that the pricerange of getting something decent, with modern cars, has been substantially increased. A GT86 here in the Netherlands isn't cheap. For the 15-20K a used goes for, I can heavily modify the CM2 to drive the snot out of the GT86. Because the K24A3 has more tuning potential than the Subaru flat4.

@@The_Noticer. I'm not saying it's not invalid. It's just not true that old cars are better cause there's always pros and cons. Some people prefer certain steering feel that others don't. Yes you can modify it to beat the gt86 but so you can modify the gt86 with stock internals and supercharger/turbo gt86 does easy to over 400 hp i was using gt86 as an example cause it has great steering feel. Type r have better feel than base models on any honda i think.
