He went on to score 103* with a last ball four in the very next match against Kenya as well, establishing himself firmly in the batting lineup for the next 12 years. After his abysmal form in the 2003 WC, Mahela was rather unceremoniously dropped from the team for this series. It was the last (and probably the first) time he was dropped from the SL team.

If u pause the video at 23:25 you’ll c the number of balls faced by Srilankan batsmen counts up to 380 which doesn’t make sense. Sangakkara only face 111 balls but on the final scoresheet it says 140 😄

i remember this cherry blossom sharjah cup. it was held immediately after 2003 worldcup debacle. wasim waqar saqlain saeed anwar etc all retired. and many star players got dropped and a new young team was formed. you can see from the team shhet that how many new and young players there are
