This Game was my first Buckeyes game in my entire life! I was 11 years old! Thank you for this!!!

This Ohio State team was a pretty amazing team. Tough defense, strong running game, pretty conservative approach on offense, and well-coached. And, they played a pretty tough schedule to become the first 14-0 team in modern college football history!

Clarett wore out WSU's secondary in the 2nd half. They got tired of having to tackle him. In the post game locker room interviews, one of WSU DB's told a reporter that Clarett was "like trying to tackle an SUV". That '02 team was just a hard nosed, scrappy team of overachievers that didn't do anything the easy way, aka the Cardiac Kids. Almost every game that year was a fight to the finish, and in some cases, past the finish and into OT, but they always found a way to win. Each game was like watching someone wrestle an anaconda. The victim would struggle for a while and seem like they may have a chance, but slowly, inexorably, they'd have the life squeezed out of them. Great D (love watching them) and special teams, with a ball and clock control O that did what they had to do to get the W.

When I watch an older game from Ohio State and see Clarret I can’t help but think what a future this young man could have had. Somebody gave him some bad advice and while I don’t really know the entire story I sure wish things had turned out differently for him.

What kind of team would tOSU been like if Clarett would have kept his nose clean and stayed at tOSU. What would have been.

He has admirably turned his life around but yes.....that 2003 team would have been loaded and probably repeated as champs. That whole trying to enter the NFL early and then never playing another snap....just a ridiculous idea.

Watching these '02 games again, so many thoughts. Again, sometimes this offense was painful to watch; also, up by 3 scores why is Clarett getting 31 carries?!? No wonder he was hurt most of the season... we're up by 18 points running out the clock in the 4th quarter and Clarett is banging off linebackers running up the middle after he already had to leave the field once. Stupid! Stupid!! But my god that defense. ;) 7:37 15:18 19:22 25:50
@tonyginnetti58282 жыл бұрын
It wasn't stupid! That's called eating the clock! Ross didn't have enough ability to gain yards needed to keep drives going and Clarett did! That's what good offensive teams do! The Buckeyes didn't exactly have their way with the Cougar defense - it was a couple turnovers and bad snaps that kept Ohio State in this game! Nothing stupid at all regarding the offensive strategy!

@@nospam3327 - yes, I understand but that's the price you pay as a 'skilled position' player and why they get paid the high dollars! Obviously, had Ohio State's offense been a juggernaut during that game, and had a backup RB who could've been relied upon to carry the ball for much needed (and clock consuming) yards, Clarett would not have had to carry the ball so much - fact is they didn't and you know as well as anyone who follows college football that a coach has to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to win the game! I don't like how the league has changed over the years but any more, if you lose ONE GAME, your hopes of securing that elusive top 4 spot 8n the Playoff polls diminish greatly!
@nospam33272 жыл бұрын
@@tonyginnetti5828 Heya, sure, but still not a smart move to injure your money player (and, fwiw, Clarett never earned a dime from football, so no, he never got paid "the high dollars," and still lots of them don't). Yes, exactly, if you lose one game you're out, so don't lose your best player to injury running them up the middle late in a game! Stupid!
