NOTE for SCREWS / the screws holding the rotors on are NOT Regular PHILLIPS screws they are a Japanese "JIS" , a little different and most of the time, a regular Phillips will work on a JIS screw; but it’s when seized a bit they strip easy. Not expensive to buy from amazon or ebay / you can always get a screw-Impact Driver Set (u can hammer on it and it turns to un-seize) or drill out but the chisel and hammer is a great idea at first

Is it necessary to put those small screws you tapped with the chisel back? Just asking as it didn't seem to hold much or anything 👍🏽
@JM-AUTO Жыл бұрын
If you don't want to put them back that is fine you won't have any issues at all.

What spray and oil is that for the brakes you mention at 6:48?
@JM-AUTO3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rayner, you can use brake cleaner or starter flued to to clean rotors because they come oily from factory

He sprayed them with brake cleaner then used no seize so the bolts don't stick.
@JM-AUTO3 жыл бұрын
@@AC-mr7is did you see when I apply anti-seize grease on the bolts?
@AC-mr7is3 жыл бұрын
@@JM-AUTO I don't know what kind of grease you used, but anti-seize is good to use for future repairs.

Why anti seize the bolts? Shouldn't you apply anti seize to the metal on metal contact of the pads and a silicone or rubber safe lubricant on the caliper pins? I feel like if anything you'd want to use a medium loctite on the bolts so they don't loosen from road vibrations...

Are you supposed to put the spring back in
@JM-AUTO2 жыл бұрын
yes if you want to but there is no need for these springs at all.

I can't get those two Phillips screwdriver bolts off
@JM-AUTO2 жыл бұрын
did you see how i took them out, if that did not work then you will have to cut them with a grinder it happed to me one or twice already but the method i used is and it has worked for me is the one i use in this video with the chisel by hitting the head of the screws till they brake lose you also can try to heat it up with a torch but becareful not to damage any thing, good luck and hope you take them out with out a grinder

Drill the heads off. Use a bit thats a little smaller than the head of the screw. Then use a slightly smaller one if you hit the brake rotor itself. They are soft and drill easy. Do NOT start with a small bit, it will catch in the screw slots and break. Do NOT reinstall the screws they are not needed. Stay gold.

Try using an impact driver. The kind where you hit the back with a hammer, and it applies the torque
