I did the same job today 4 years after you and had the same issue found your comment and had a good laugh at all the people being dicks. I tightened mine up a quarter turn seems good now

Hell yeah he did, I had to cut mine off with a oscillating saw the first time and on the second time I torched it and then used a biting bit for rounded off nuts.

Question: Why do you need to loosen the idler pulley nut itself? Looks like it just makes things more difficult with the pulley flopping around like that.

So you can turn the tensioner from the the top to drop the pulley down.
