2002-2007 Chrysler Town & Country / Dodge Grand Caravan Moderate Overlap Crash Test (40% / 64 Km/h)

A 40 Mph (64 Km/h), 40% overlap crash test into an IIHS Moderate Overlap crash test deformable barrier.
The purpose of this test was to evaluate and compare vehicle and occupant responses during 40% frontal offset vehicle to deformable barrier crash tests. For this test, the subject vehicle was a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country Minivan with a 50th percentile Hybrid III driver dummy, and a 5th percentile Hybrid III right front passenger dummy.

I did 318000 miles in a 97 grand caravan se, overall most dependable thing I ever drove. Seeing this video makes me glad I never had a crash in it. Plus, how inconvenient the spare tire storage is in the later versions of this van. Cold winter night on the shoulder of the expressway with a flat on one of the drivers side. Laying in the wet, salty, slush tryna get that tire down and out from underneath.....😒

I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan with the same color blue. Has over 380k miles on it and still going. Love the van, my only complaint is that on a road trip going through Colorado 2 months ago, it severely struggled to get up the mountains. I was behind the 18-wheelers with my flashers on 😩

my 06 T and C has been in 6 accidents, being totaled twice. after i bought it back from the insurance company i had dodge rebuild it once and a local body shop rebuild it the 2nd time. the other accidents i was able to repair the damage myself. it now has 223K miles and on the original powertrain. it takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

The reason for that was that the LHD come with knee airbag and the RHD don't, and they always test the "base"-model in terms of safety accessories. The LHD would have scored 3 stars (with the potential for 4 stars).

@@wp8022 that's the fourth gen, the third gen was tested LHD as most of its competitors and failed miserably in the front crash due to hideous structural performance, bad functionment of restraint systems, and mainly a horrible behavior of the steering column, the Opel Sintra/Chevrolet Venture/Pontiac Trans Sport fared similarly due to an even more miserable structural performance and the steering column internally beheading the driver.

Since it was a rear-end accident, you were pushed backwards into the headrests, not forwards into the dash, meaning the airbags would be useless. If you were in that same accident except it was a front end accident, the air bags would have deployed.

My grandmother has had a few gen of these. currently has a 2006 grand caravan sxt since 2011 I think not sure but it's starting to have problems with the power doors and inside lights and few mechanical issues but the inside is still pretty good shape

When you see the lower side you can see a gastank under the seats? Is it driving with liquid gas? And another Question: Is it a stow and go? The frame there is off course different to the old ones with fixed seats. Is there a difference in stability? I read somewhere else that the facelift version got a stronger b-pillar. - I still have a Voyager from 2003 which is built in Austria in Graz with wonderful quality. But rust is comming a little now. But no wonder, in Germany we have salt on winter roads and this you see...

Those are not gastanks, but "seat holes" I guess. Seats fold into them or you have a space for 4 large bags when seats are in use. These voyagers/townCountrys are magnificently designed - you can easily have the convenience of 7 seats or a flat floor for transporting that couch that did not fit on your redneck buddy's f150 bed. All without the humiliation of dragging the seats up into your apartment and back. I love this cars practicality, lived in one for 2 years!

IIHS does their tests at 35 mph, this is at 40. 5 mph can make a big difference in crash tests

Obviously try to buy one which is as new as possible, I've got the 2013 on model, as couldn't afford the Pacifica, it did better in crash tests though still didn't get 5 stars. Mind you, the 6-speed auto gearboxes go on them too often (just had mine replaced, ouch), old shape had a more reliable 4-speed box apparently. Good luck to ya!

Não sei se estes testes têm em conta a LEI da FISICA. PESO/Massa vs Velocidade vs Impacto. Ou seja quanto mais pesado maior o dano que gera no oposto assim como em si próprio. comparando as outras mono esta é a maior e a mais pesada. Logo os dados não podem nem devem ser lidos dessa forma. Mas sim o que os bonecos sofrem e comparativamente com os valores máximos. Se esta ia a 64Km e são estes os dados, eu gostaria de ver se fosse a 100km ou120km (velocidade real das estradas quando há acidentes) e os resultados dos seus oponentes concorrentes como a Sienna ou Honda. Isto com este modelo de 2005 porque a de 2014 julgo que piorou.
