2002 Buick century NO CRANK/NO START ignition problem (need help)

had the same thing. there is a fusible link going to the starter, the large wire. Take it apart and clean the connection where the wire going to the starter is hooked to the main wire coming out of the wiring harness. probably it is corroded on that connection. Clean it up and reconnect it using a good connector purchased from an auto parts dealer, the actual fusible link is probably still good, besides that you will probably not be able to find a new one, even from the dealer.

On the passenger side dash, open door. There's another fuse panel. There's a tire reset button. Put your key on with the car in neutral. Push the reset, then push the car backwards enough for the wheels to go around about 1 time. Then return to park and crank it up.

I got the same problem bro. On my 2003 buick century U have to keep trying. And sometimes a 30 second break in between try’s. I get it’s mostly on the 10th try and sometimes I wait 5 minutes and then try. It always works

I finally got mine starting consistently. I ended up changing the starter motor for a better model. The starter I purchased before had a loose s terminal and wasn't making a connection. I also replaced the battery wires too. They looked good but I had a corrosion problem and wanted to eliminate that condition.

I seen that the security light stayed on that's the issue. The ECM is not reading the key.

Exactly mine too! That red security light is always on!

@MrDJ317 Turn the key to the on position back to the off position 10 times, then put the key into on position for 5 minutes, and it should register to key.

Any follow up to your issue? You get it resolved? Still acting up? Going through something similar on my 04 Monte. Probably towing it to the mechanic let them deal with it.

Its the security system. Don't remember how but just look up how to reset it. I know I'm very late on this

SOLVED*** I had the same ignition problem with mine. Your crank signal fuse (pass interior panel) is likely not getting power. You also don’t have any ground bolts in your engine panel

Is that fuse panel under the hood supposed to have bolts in it? Mine don't

If the car starts with the key on an by jumping the starter it’s the ignition switch. If the security light stays on it’s probably vats. Having the same problem

Check your gear shifter put it in park try to start put in nucheral and try to start .it's probably your park nutcherl switch out of adjustment.

I just got my started. The starter was good. But I actually tightened all starter nuts to make sure they were tight. After that it started right up. Definitely check to make sure the contacts are tight and hopefully that will do it. But it could be a short too.

Already had this issue. It's about timing. Already happened to me, reprogram key system after, after you replace the computer. Been through this already.

I have the same problem on a 02 Buick Century, checked starter relay, ignition relay, starter bench tested, when I bought that starter new it worked for a few months, now wont start at all, even with a new battery. when I hook up an amp meter between negative pole and the detached wire, I am maxing out my amp meter too. do not want to connect the neg cable back in until I solve this @@MrDJ317

Im having the same problem right now with my 2000 Buick century got my starter as a push button and now I have to get a key made and change the ignition

I'm having a similar issue--battery is charged, tested the voltage to the starter and that is 12.6. I also tested the continuity on the S terminal on the starter as well as the S terminal and the M terminal for the starter motor and that was good. I cleaned the ground connections and still nothing. You may want to check and make sure the engine isn't seized up as well. I'm getting a click but I noticed your vehicle didn't click at all. It could be a short some where. Keep us posted.

Also if it happens again before u fix and replace the starter and or starter parts. I heard to just turn the key forward all the way till dash lights up without tryna start it. Basically in the on position and leave it in that position hold the tire reset button for 5 seconds or until it flashes. It’s on your front passenger once you open the door. The fuse panel on side of dash. The side panel can only be seen if door is open. To Remove the side panel is easy. It just clicks off with a simple tug and snaps right back in

I'm having the same issue. If anybody figured it out cool let me know. I wanted to add in that I need to change my fuel filter. After knocking on the filter I stated the car and it started but now nothing and the security light is on solid. Buick Regal gs 2000
