What I have to say about the 2002 Ford Expedition: Great Full Size Family SUV that seats 8. The interior of the Expedition is the best in class because of it's great ergonomics and simple functional interior that is easier to live with then the GM Products. The Rear seats is also very roomy for this class. Even though it might be the oldest in this class the Expedition still remains a very strong competitor.

I had a 2000 Expedition same color and trim as this one it went to 367k then it croaked on me I’d get another someday but for now I’m enjoying 34mpg out of my 2014 Ford Focus y’all know that triton eats gas

Manifold leak I just fix mine love this truck when changed body style I was pissed they made it into a van lower to ground and they just fuck up style so I got 2001 and made it new from bumper to bumper and can't complain it the best truck I owned 👍

Parents used to have 99 XLT then bought an 01 XLT brand new, "leased the first one" . This first generation expedition will always have a special place in my heart. Love this truck

Don't expect a 10 old vehicle to reach EPA any more. Mine averages 13 city and 18 highway. I have had as bad as 11 city and as good as 21 highway. It will all depend on just how you drive it, and the conditions it is in.

I think some of those numbers are off. The 2V 5.4L is 260 HP/303 TQ,not 350. The 2V 4.6L is 230 HP/291 TQ. The 2V 6.8L is 300 HP/325 TQ. The fuel efficiency is debated. The 2V 4.6L is 12-13 MPG in the city while 15-16 MPG on the highway. The 2V 5.4L & 6.8L are 8-9 MPG in the city and 10-11 MPG on the highway,regardless of gearing.

No, the description was accurate. The 2v 5.4 with the Pi heads made 260hp and 350 lbs of torque. Non Pi heads (97-98) made 235 hp and 330 lbs of torque. The 2v V-10 with no Pi heads made 410 lbs of torque, Pi heads made 425 lbs of torque. The 3v V-10 made 460 lbs of torque

i have a 2002 expedition, and it suddenly starts to make a clacking type noise after turning it on one day, there was no indication of the motor going bad leading up, so i had a mechanic check it out and he told me that it threw a rod. My trucks body is in good shape barely any rust. I was told i can either rebuild the motor or swap it and or sell the truck for parts. What should i do?

Brett Kendall i have a 2000 eddie bauer with 5.4L, and just like Bradley said it was abused and neglected, previous owner did not maintain it at all. But with 192,000 miles it still runs strong and has plenty of power for occasional towing and snow driving. I had to replace rear shocks, all brakes, coolant and oil, rear heater core, hub bearings and a few other small items. It also had a massive exhaust manifold leak which is very common on these due to shit design from Ford but also corrosion from lack of cleaning. The one in the video sounds more like a misfire but could be exhaust too. Any vehicle of this age will have some issues and rust. Fuel economy is always about 13 MPG for me with 50/50 highway and local traffic. If I set cruise at 55 on the highway it gets over 18.

Hey Brent same with me I got a 2001 4 WD used 150 k miles he did do brakes and plugs and wires on top of plugs and I just changed the fuel filter under near the frame I hope to get better fuel but they suck it up for sure and I thought my 2005 Honda acc. Got bad gas mpg lol but is a strong truck and love it for what’s it’s made for. Same on hood rust spots and aged black paint but it’s ok got it cleaned up inside and out as best as it well be no problem

The 5.4L gets 8-9 MPG in town and roughly 10-11 MPG on Highway.They are fuel guzzlers.Get the 4.6L,they get 12-13 MPG and about 15-16 MPG on Highway.

The Tahoe back then had 14/18 mpg for the 5.3 V8. 4.8 V8 Gets 15/19 or 20 MPG on a good day

I use to have a 2002 5.4L F-150 Supercrew Lariat,mine only had 198,000 Miles and I got it to 204,369 Miles last year in November until my 4R70W and Driveshaft had to be Rebuilt.That was fairly low Mileage for my Truck because all the ones I have seen for sale usually have 250,000-270,000 Miles on them,or even more.I even had a 2003 5.4L F-350 XLT with 297,000 Miles on it.

I originally bought this car back in 2013 with only 79,477 or something like that for $8,850. No bullshit I only had this car for 2 years and then it died with 92,000 miles exactly and woulden't turn back on. Well it turned out that in some completely unexplainable way the battery shorted out and somehow fucked up the anti theft system in the process causing it to activate and since anti theft was now activated it automatically cut off all power to the entire ignition system. We towed it towed it to ford and they said it would be $25,000 to replace the security system. That my friends was the first and last time I had a ford

Maybe if you replaced the Battery and even the Alternator it still would be running.I had a 2002 5.4L F-150,mine had 204,000 Miles and then my 4R70W had to be Rebuilt,which never happened,it was purchased by someone last week.I got it with 198,000 Miles.Last year in June,mine shut down and shorted out at the gas station because the Battery lost connection and the Cables had to be replaced and were just basically fucked up.I just replaced all of them and I had a brand new 12V Battery in the Truck along with the appropriate Alternator because someone else before me put one on that wasn't suppose to be on my 5.4L.It was only a little more than $100 for me to do it.

This is a 2 Valve,not a 3 Valve.The Timing Chain errors are what the 3V 4.6L & 3V 5.4L have.
