Thanks for the video, it was helpful to see how the clips worked, as that was the most difficult part of the job. The back clip I ended up removing with my fingers, because I couldn't get a screwdriver at the right angle. Two things: 1) The measurements on those screws are likely 8mm and 7mm, 2) most people recommend pulling the fuel pump fuse and cranking the motor several times so as to avoid the fuel splatter.

thanks for taking the time to post this video. it helped a lot. no worries on the focus. I did run into an issue trying to unlatch the higher facet. the angle of the clamp was super tough to access. it was a ford 2006 focus

Thanks. Was unsure about hose clip contraptions until I watched your vid. Thanks for taking time to actually record it.

thanks for telling everyone to stay away from lines when disconnecting, i changed a fuel filter on a windstar van and it poured into my ear...that was one of the most painful things i've experienced....so like you said, definitely keep back from those lines or remove fuse!

Hey! Thanks for your post on this! I followed your instructions to change mine on my '02 Focus and, I have to say, it's so easy - a girl can do it! (I'm a girl.) :-D Thanks again!

Thank for the vid. I just took the filter out of a 2003 Focus w/ 170,000 miles that just started stalling and having trouble going over 40mph and the fuel looks like black coffee. I was shocked that I was still getting around 29 mpg! I also blew through the filter and found a lot of air flow restriction when empty. It's the same set up as yours. The white line clamps were easy to remove simultaneously with a pair of needle nose pliers, A 5/16 socket and 9/32 for pump bracket. $10.99 filter

Daminion1000 your stupid it 8mm for mounting bracket and 7 mm around the filter. ALL HARDWARE IS METRIC

Tom Boone First,Tom,please don't call people stupid it is unnecessary.With Fords these days are made in USA,Mexico,Brazil,Turkey like my Transit Connect,Great Britain,Australia,and a few other places.So,some have metric,some have saw,and others have a mix of the two.Trial and error sizing will be done until one finds what works for one's individual vehicle.I hope this helps and have fun ,Tom.

Many thanks for doing this video. Managed to change my filter. Keep it up!

That fuse you were asking about is in slot F12. Removing it and running the engine until it runs out of gas helps reduce pressure in the lines so the fuel doesn't spray as much.

Just did my filter on my 2000 ford focus. With floor jacks and stands, makes the job so easy. Ford did it right using the quick release hoses. I paid 13.00 bucks for the Purolator filter, wonder how much it would have cost me if I took it to a shop??

Do avoid the fuel spill. Unplug the fuel pump relay under the hood fuse box. Run the car till it dies and it will minimum fuel spill.

@AdamAus85 You just can't beleave how many different fuel filter that they can come out with in just a few years apart. I wish they would just pick one and stay with it.

@ShawnCFarm13 жыл бұрын
@deadblock3 Some times, You just have to be fast with the new one. I normally take all the clips out and have the new one ready to put back in as fast as I can. Some cars will leak out all over the place but most will stop after all the gas has come out of the filter. Just make sure your not right under it when you remove the lines and have something to catch the fuel.
@ShawnCFarm12 жыл бұрын
@Timeb0mbGaming No not that much and if you wanted to you could pull the fuse to the fuel pump and start the car to get rid of the fuel pressure so it dose not go all over the place.
@ShawnCFarm13 жыл бұрын
@lustrded Not sure. I take it it was not doing that before. You might try cleaning the throttle body out. It should be part of every tune up.
@ShawnCFarm14 жыл бұрын
@Erated78 I use the black ones most times. Not sure what happened this time. Must have run out lol. Some of them fuel pumps like on the blazers are a real pain in the ass, They are all plastic and when you try to lower the tank they break off at the fuel lines.
@ShawnCFarm13 жыл бұрын
@104stefan They should be change every 30,000 or so. I know the newer spark plugs will go for 120,000 to 130,000 km before you change them but alot of people forget the fuel filter
@edzgarage14 жыл бұрын
Good job!
@Erated7814 жыл бұрын
Shawn, how come you don't use those blue rubber gloves when working on vehicles? I've done fuel filters before - they're a breeze compared with fuel pumps and sending units especially when you have to lower the tank.
@aodhanof9013 жыл бұрын
good video! I'm about to do one on a Ford Contour and I wasn't sure how to get those quick clips off. Btw, did you pull the fuel relay of fuze before swapping the filter?
@ShawnCFarm13 жыл бұрын
@lustrded It sounds like you might have some other problems as well. If you hear a hissing sound when you push your foot to the floor you might have a plug cat .
@captjjohnson13 жыл бұрын
@104stefan I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what vehicle or generation it is the fuel filter always goes bad on all vehicles over time. It depends on how crappy the fuel is that you put into it.
@ShawnCFarm13 жыл бұрын
@aodhanof90 No but I should have and ran it, but its just faster to let it spray out alittle.

@ShawnCFarm Haha, yes. But then again you do get surprised, even with Australian Fords. For example the cruise control module in my car is made in Mexico, but other than a few other litlte electronic bits it's all local. This was 1995 mind you, probably not so Australian nowadays.

I changed the fuel filter of my 2007 Ford Focus, and after a week I am hearing a noise in the back after twisting the key but not starting the engine. Do you think it could be associated with the fuel filter change?

I changed my fuel filter and now my car stalls from going from a stop..It idles fine but feel likes its going to stall when I put it into gear...I doubled check the filter and I have the right one and I put the lines on the right ends...Do you have a clue why it stalls?

They say you should change it every 2 or 3 years . Or every hundred thousand km's .. Changing your fuel filter will put less stress on tiny fuel pump . I just bought a focus and I'll be doing my filter next week. I don't mind wasting a $1.50 of gasoline .

I really dislike those clips. I had a 95 F150, when I changed the fuel filter on it I cut those ends off, made a few mods and just hose clamped it. and I will likely do the same when I do the blazer. Speaking of which, I must be tired, I did an oil change on the blazer and didnt even film it :( Hey bro, you ever use that Lucas oil additive? Put some in the blazer today, I hope I dont spin a bearing lol
