I’m on a 2001 Thomas freightliner at the moment been riding it all year and it’s our bus for the whole year runs amazing and the seats have replacement covers on them so some seats have old bluebird covers so it’s a different design then the original but still a good running and driving bus

When Mercedes bought the Louisville Ford truck line, they started building the Sterling trucks. Freightliner buses came off the same Ford bus assembly line in Louisville. Many of the parts on a Freightliner are the same as used on Ford buses. Power steering pumps, column shifters, and other things still resemble Ford buses, even though the Freightliner bus chassis is now built in Gaffney, SC www.freightlinerchassis.com/ and www.fcccrv.com are good reading.

There will be fewer and fewer shorter buses as the years progress. The school has to pay the driver, and drivers are getting harder and harder to find. So, it makes sense to put as many kids as possible onto a bus. When I started school in 1959, a 9 row bus was a big bus. I was in the 7th grade before our school got a 10 row. Look how big they are, now!! You can get a Thomas C2 that carries 81 children and moves them with a 4 cylinder DD5 (5 liter Mercedes) diesel.

Really cool bus nice and red one since way back but I don't know if that one needs cdl or not depends on the gwv

It needs a CDL. The GVWR is 25,500, so it is under the 26,001 pound CDL requirement. However, it carries more than 14 passengers plus the driver, so a passenger endorsement is required on a Class B CDL. Plus air brakes.

Do you happen to have any rear engine (RE) school buses at your dealership? If yes, what models?
@bgasales2 жыл бұрын
www.floridachurchbus.com has current inventory. We have some Thomas HDX models and a few All Americans. There are some IC RE300s in the yard, but they are all sold.

Why do buses in Florida have yellow wheels
@bgasales Жыл бұрын
Only buses with seat belts have yellow wheels. A fireman knows the kids are dangling from the seat belts and not able to get out of the bus, if the bus is upside down. Someday, a bus will roll over on it's roof, in a ditch full of water, and all the kids will drown because they are dangling from their seat belts and the driver is unable to cut them loose before they drown. Then, all the parents who cried that their kids should have to wear seat in a bus, since they have to wear them in a car, will want to sue the school, the state, the bus manufacturer, and everyone else they can find, because they should have known that kids will die in such a situation. Seat belts make wonderful weapons, though. The kids can keep the other kids under control by busting them in the head with their seat belt buckle. AND, the cost of adding seat belts is horrendous. How many lived need to be saved in order to justify the cost? Just one. Life is precious. However, is it truly saving lives? Many school districts have never had a death inside a school bus, with or without seat belts. Yellow wheels... a California and Florida thing. In FL, the yellow wheels came with the seat belts. Both are unnecessary, in my opinion. wesellschoolbuses.com/2880/2022-11-21%2014.25.03%20Stock%20%232880%20-%201997%20International%20Thomas%20T444E%207.3L%20V8%20Turbo%20Diesel%20Allison%20Air%20Brakes%2065%20Passenger%20Clean%20Used%20School%20Bus%20For%20Sale%20Near%20Me%20@%20BGA%20School%20Buses,%20Inc.%20Hudson,%20FL.jpg Here is a FL bus without yellow wheels.
