Good video. You cover all aspects. Sound at idle, and sound under load. I don't like when people just rev the exhaust.

if you wanna get rid of the drone sound put a resonator in front of the muffler about a foot and half to 2 feet ahead of it

I have the 50 dual in dual out on a K1500 and its not loud at all inside the truck, low speed or high speed, but I can hear it coming when the Ol Lady has pulled up outside. 👍

Which "50" do you have; there are several. There are 4 "50" series street chambered mufflers and also a 50 series race muffler.

I had the 3" version of these on a mild (550h.p.) big block, with 3" pipes that ended with the mufflers and turn-downs right at the rear axle. They sounded killer, and were fairly quiet. You couldn't even hear the car idle if you were standing in front of it. Later on, I put the same exact exhaust, pipes and everything, on a different car with a 730h.p. big block and it was WAY too loud to drive on the street. I was bummed, it sounded so good on the milder motor. Now I have to try and find something quieter, but flows good enough to support 730h.p.

I liked it when your blinker was louder than your exhaust inside of the truck
@mnspeed19322 жыл бұрын
Definitely off the throttle at that point. The loud drone was hard to translate onto the video when the engine was under load at the lower rpm's.
@Payne4276 жыл бұрын
The reason it's noticeable around 1,500 is because of the shift pattern of the 4L60E, it shifts into overdrive around 15-20. The 700R4 in the 90's 1500's were even worse. That's why I usually have my 94 C1500 in drive or (3) while I'm in town. That American Thunder single side exit system can get pretty annoying in overdrive around town.

Thanks for making the video. I'm looking at options for an exhaust setup I want to build for my 4th gen Camaro. I want to do an X-pipe with a couple of bullets that dump by the rear axle, and have a couple of valves that will redirect it to a larger muffler in the factory location. I plan on doing a big cam in my car, but I would like to be able to keep it from waking up the neighborhood every morning at 5am.

Nice video, I like that low tone around 1500rpm. A friend's Corvette with a Fox exhaust also does that when accelerating, because the torque converter is holding it at this rpm range. Here in Germany, 90% of the cars sound so calm. The I4 are like a sewing machine the I3 engines are shaky as hell, but the BMW I6 are nasty high-rev engines :D

Hey I want to give you advice 50 series is bearly louder than stock if you want something that is not very loud at idle but want to hear it when driving go with a pro series or 50 series delta flow

Thanks for the details in the video. I am looking at purchasing the American Thunder kit with this muffler and was concerned about interior drone too. Spoke to Flowmaster today and they are confident the kit (#17325) should not produce any noticeable drone since the 50 BB muffler is their quietest. Did you ever change your muffler?

@@owentimo Ah okay, my 2006 5.3 didn’t come with one either, but I read that GM had a hard time quieting down the 6.0, so thought maybe the 99-06 NBS 6.0 got a resonator like the 07-13 NNBS 6.0 did.

Really tho what do you expect from a flowmaster.. if you want quiet you should go oem muffler.. flowmaster is known for aggressive mufflers
@xeronicus3 жыл бұрын
Not entirely true, flowmaster has a wide range of mufflers, some of which are as quiet as oem, the 50 series is a more aggressive tone, a 70 series has a nice rumble, but not alot of drone, and there are others that meet and exceed DOT rated applications. Personally, I'm a borla guy, NO drone is kinda nice.
@michaelenglund49633 жыл бұрын
@@xeronicus the 50 big block muffler is referred to as their quietest muffler, both in description and noise level chart on flowmaster’s web site.
