Flowmaster 70 vs 50 HD Sound Comparison

I had to modify the 50 HD to fit by removing the ends of the muffler and swapping to a center inlet and offset outlet. This is a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.7L V8 with Doug Thorley Tri-Y Headers, Magnaflow Hi-flow Cat and 3" Mandrel Bent Tailpipe

I was split on the 50 and 70 series for my 5.2 zj. This video made my decision on the 70. Could not have been more perfect!

You say you were split on the 50 and 70 series, however there are multiple "50 Series" Flowmaster mufflers. Most aggressive to least aggressive "50 Series" street chambered mufflers there is the 50 Series HD, 50 Series Delta Flow, Super 50 Series (formerly the 50 Series Truck and SUV) and lastly the 50 Series Big Block; there is also the 50 Series Delta Force Race Muffler.

@@williambell6975 oh goodness, this was forever ago. I ended up getting a knock off chambered muffler. I think thrush? Not too loud gave a nice rumble.

Thanks Martinbuilt. Although I installed my 70 big block II series muffler on a 6.2 Raptor (already had stainless works headers and resonator delete), your video gave me the heads up and I sold off the 50's series that came with the American Thunder flowmaster catback I originally purchased. The 50's series did sound good (I tried it), aggressive, and like a cannon firing when first turning on the truck, but the interior drone between 1500-1900 rpm's was brutal.

I hear that, the 50 sounds great but the interior drone is a little to much but not as bad as the super 44. I was glad to get rid of that one. Thanks for commenting.

3" flowmaster 70's going on the 1981 camaro, the headers are equal length custom fabricated extra long tubes to xpipe to straight under the axle tips center under rear bumper.

I have a Super 44 on my 2000 JGC 4.7 with cat delete, sounds great

@@martinbuilt I used a spark plug anti fouler, 18mm I believe. Drill the center out with a 1/2" bit, and insert o2 sensor into anti fouler, insert both into pipe. Sounds mean

A muffler should not affect smog in any way as long as you leave the catalytic converters alone.

Fran vincent the regular 50 Series Muffler they do make one that fits. This is the 50 heavy duty and they don't make one that has a Center Inlet with an offset Outlet

Compared to the 70 series everything is louder from Flowmaster. The heavy duty 50 would be louder than the 50 Series. I used to have the Flowmaster Super 44 that was even louder with noticeable interior drone.

@@7REDDRACO7 I ended up taking the hd-50 and removed all the baffles and turned it into a absorption Muffler very similar to a borla muffler sounds great still pretty loud.

the 50 series big block is supposed to be quieter than the 70 just as quiet as stock except same awesome sound. isaw a 5.7l Tahoe video with one. checks out although there is no decibel meter, it sounds very good and very quiet.

I got a Cherokee in line 6 stroker 4.9 with the 50 Delta Flow dual outlet. I don't like the interior drone. I got a Big Block 70 series laying around. Think I'm gonna put that one on. Nice vid
