I been checking a lot of videos and they removed a lot of extra plugs and cables. Watch the video until the end and do it yourself on 30 minutes. If I miss something just comment and I will try to guide you on the right direction. Here is the link of where I purchased the starter::::: www.partsgeek....

Thanks for the great video Flako!!! Had intermittent slow crank, sometimes it would start, sometimes not. Starter tested good when tested on vehicle at local auto parts store. Everything pointed me back to the starter. New battery too. How do people take it out from below? Too crowded from below on my 2005 crv. I was hesitant to attempt this repair but your video made me comfortable to try the repair. Feels damn good to fix your own vehicle, even if you have to do some extra wrenching. Got a pair of long needlenose pliers like in your video, used them to push on that small hose on the manifold. Thanks again and keep the videos coming bro.

Just followed this video to change my gf’s starter on her ‘04. We thought it was the battery cause putting a jump pack on it helped it start when it was having starting problems. It wouldn’t start with a jump pack or an actual jump start when it got stuck in a parking lot the other day. Watched this video, snagged a junkyard starter and got the gf’s car running in the last two days. Getting her’s out and putting the new one in took maybe 2 and a half hours, but i’m an experienced Subaru mechanic so may be different for you. Very easy besides the 17mm bolt on the starter. Had to stand on her valve cover to yank the bolt upwards to break it, since I didn’t have a pipe/breaker bar. Started right up first try after it was all said and done. Good vid 👍

Nicely done. Overall, the information contained here was invaluable. I approached the project with confidence and saved at least $350 (after deducting $300 for new tools).I hadn't done this kind for work in 60 years. The auto shop quoted me $650 to replace the starter in my 2002 CRV L-4. The dealer quoted $1,600. I just today began the process of dismantling, and this video has been invaluable, except for not showing the actual removal of the two starter mounting bolts. I just finished installing the (rebuilt) starter, and it's working fine. First, I want to emphasize is the extreme difficulty in removing (and re-installing) the two large mounting bolts holding the starter in place. Mine were torqued down to the max, and Loctite (or the equivalent) had been used. I had to run to O'Reilly's and buy a 2-ft 1/2"-drive breaker bar to unfreeze these two bolts, and even after breaking them loose, it was tough getting them out with a 12"-drive ratchet. It was the same with replacing them. There wasn't a 1/8-inch to spare, so I did the best I could with just the ratchet. I would not recommend replacing a starter without a 2-ft long 1/2"-drive ratcheting breaker bar. I also highly recommend loosening the radiator supports for better access and using heavy-duty bungie cords to hold restrain the right-hand wiring harness and also on the left side to restrain the manifold, which I had left attached to the vacuum hose. Update: I had two small bolts left over and now it shifts gears jerkily. There's also a trouble code of P0022. Guess I'll have to go on a hunt.

Thanks for showing, I had to do all that just to change the Knock sensor.... I was able to remove the sensor without by only removing covers but was not able to fit new one as the space so small to put my hand in and twist it on to the thread. After an hour trying I just removed the manifold by watching your video. Thank you for giving me the confidence to do it.😊

Thanks so much for this method. The other method of pulling it up and to the right, sounds like a spacial headache. Right now I'm just stopped by all of the hoses that don't want to budge. So I'm waiting on hose pliers to come in before I continue.
@pixelcultmedia4252

Finally got the job done. I honestly thought I had an extra bolt left over before I realized that the new Starter came with its own bolt. Once I realized that, I was able to calm down and put it all back together. The hardest part of the job was that stupid little hose underneath the manifold. Re-connecting it is a hassle because you can only fit one finger down there at a time. So you're basically flicking the hose until it catches on the nipple, and then dragging your finger along the hose to pressure it back onto the nipple.

I used your method yesterday and it was very successful! I looked at other videos and some people removed too many parts which were unnecessary. The key was moving the sub-frame forward to give room for the intake manifold to come out. Having an extra long pair of needle nose pliers was very important. I also used zip ties to replace any ties that were broken. Thank you very much for your video. I subscribed to you as well.

Awesome video, just finished installing my starter following your every step. Two recommendations for anyone else to make it a bit easier... When installing the intake back on, install that little hose on left first before mounting the intake on, just get intake into place, it's closest spot and attach that little hose first (the one where the extra long pliers were used on) Second, if you live in the rust belt like me, apply a ton of good quality penetreting fluid on all your nuts and bolts and give it time to penetrate. Especially the starter bolts.

I looked at all the videos on the CRV starter. This one is the best for 2002-2003-2004 CRV. The smartest part is disconnecting the throttle body from the manifold and moving the radiator support back for clearance. Many thanks I should be done tomorrow! I kinda hate to leave that 20-year-old alternator and knock sensor in place but I ain't made of money!

Thanks for the video! My 2004 crv was a bit different, couldn't take that first bar off as it has another bar going vertical down the middle so probably would have had to jack up to remove. Meet a few rusty, rounded off bolts along the way but fortunately a motor bike enthusiast was working in his garage near by and used an impact socket with imperial, which he managed to grasp the bolts. He also gave me some new ones to replace. Took me around 4 hours haha. I was changing the knock sensor and thought going from the bottom looked tight and troublesome. Anyway engine light is off, but that happened last time I disconnect the battery so I'll know by the end of the week if I have managed to solve my problem. Appreciate your video immensely though. Putting back together was sooo much easier than taking apart, although I'm sure I could do it in an hour now that all the tubes, nuts and bolts have had a good spray of WD40 and have been loosened up from their seized state.

Of the CRV starter swap videos, this is the best. No problem with the swap. I did not have to remove the hood latch, there was still plenty of room. The only tricky part is the hose that is buried on the passenger side, it was easier to access once the intake was off the studs a couple inches, then you can get a hand back there, may need to pry off with a flathead screwdriver. Also, make sure to disconnect battery. We didn’t (tried cutting corners) and we created an arc somehow while disconnecting the starter and scared the hell out of us. Luckily, car was fine after that, but right after that I took the time to disconnect it, feeling stupid.

This is by far the best and easy way to replace the starter for the 2002-2003 CRV. Your video is super clear and easy to understand. There is just one thing I am wondering at 4:48, you bent the metals up a little bit. I don't think it is a big deal, but is there a way not to do it there. Totally agree with you brother. I tried from the bottom and Holly molly took me forever to figure it out where the bolts were and the right tools. Seems a lot of work from the top but its not all those parts are easy to pull them out and add them back.

Again great video! In case anyone wants to know I did not remove any of the front framing or grill, just the front latch. I only removed the battery and coolant hose engine side and slid the intake to the right and up and it came out like a charm. Very easy! Thanks again!

@@factotumted good question. I’m totally 100% its no way to do it on 30 minutes from under the vehicle. The starter its seat it on top of the transmission how you gonna remove the blogs and the bolts no way.

As someone who has never done a single car repair, this video gets pointless after you remove the intake cover, since you don’t SHOW HOW TO REMOVE THE STARTER. Had to go watch other videos on the actual part. Also, get to the point.

Tbf this video is one continuous shot so I think they did pretty well. Not everyone is a videographer, who has the skills to snip and edit footage down to make a concise tutorial. You can always increase the speed for your own viewing.

Nice one. Everyone saying go under the bottom and feel your way to a long bolt and say it is easier. NOT. Much rather stand and just loosen bolts and remove manifold is 100% easier. Thanks brah!
