LOVED this video. I enjoy working on our 2000 Grand Cherokee and this has been a problem (oil pressure maxed after two failed from auto repair shops.). Finally thought I could probably do the job and your video was perfect. Job is done and my wife saw me covered in grease and smiled. Thank you for posting!

This vid is one of the best for this repair I've seen. Hope this doesn't come across as sexist, just saying that this woman is making it normal and easy for women to realize how easy minor to mid level repairs can be on most vehicles. Also, please use electrical contact cleaner on that oily mess of you have one, and many of my mechanic friends recommend the addition of a few turns of high quality high temp Teflon tape to that factory applied orange stuff to stop any possible leakage. 🖖

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD 4.7L FI SOHC HO 8cyl *My connector was a (squeeze from rear - pull) type (no red tab on mine) *PS535 oil pressure switch *Performance Tool W80590 socket 1" to 1 1/16" socket to remove switch *63250 adjustable oil filter remover (attach to bottom of filter to remove with rachet) Removal was smooth I allowed jeep to cool before removing oil filter to avoid messy spill. You dont have to drain oil. The only oil that will spill will be whats in the oil filter. (If your carefull enough when removing you wont really spill any). When I replaced oil filter I added oil to the new filter before replacing it and checked the levels after the job was complete. Thank you!

Thanks, 3rd time replacing it, part 0514 9064 AB - 001. Forgot how to remove connector, your vid was very helpful, thanks.... I only use genuine mopar sensors.... last one was good for 7 years! Keep some a can of contact cleaner to get the oil out of the connector.

Great video I did this on my 1996 Cherokee a while ago it is really easy and cheaper than paying someone to do it. It's also nice to see a women that isn't afraid to get her hand dirty and put in the work. Those are good jeeps and easy to fix. 😁

Very good ! Easy fix. I was about to put some of my high blood pressure meds into the crank case, that is how I handle high blood pressure. But Linda here educated me on the sensor. I still think a couple of tabs of 100mg Losartan would have cured the problem.

I watched 5 videos looking for one that would help me locate my sending unit and this was the only one that helped. Mine is in that exact location but I have a 2002 Wrangler Sport. Other videos showed it in different locations. The only thing I had to do was wear a textured glove to get enough grip to pull it off. They make really good tight fitting non-slip mechanic's gloves. I was able to move that red clip back and fort with my bare hand but could not get the plug off without gloves.

A little tip, don't work on cars with a metal bracelet on, at least not around wires and the battery... Seen a friend get some bad burn around his wrist.... Great video, only one who actually show how to unlock the red clip on the connector.....

Take off any jewerly before working on a car. Plus, always disconnect the negative lead to the battery first when working on anything electrical on a car - you can short out things causing more problems (and tough ones to find also).

Love it, thanks for the help! I love my 2002 Grand and am looking at restoring it, which should be pretty easy since it is in pretty good shape. I am going to replace the front seats. Do you have any sources for those? I have to replace the undercarriage of my driver's seat too. It has several breaks in it.
@lyndalyday37274 ай бұрын
I go to the local pick and pull from a junk yard. You’ll always find Jeeps that have those parts. I replaced my electric undercarriage seat in the passenger front side. It’s easy. Bring a bag of tools with you with a battery drill and an extension for the bits you may need. A kit of torq bits and Phillips comes in handy too.

Q1: How did you clean the gunk (oil) inside of the plug wire without damaging this? Doubtful you used a solvent. Brake fluid perhaps? And Q2: Did you buy the oil sensor directly from Jeep?
@GreenForce826 жыл бұрын
Brian Brewster and anyone else curious, brake cleaner to degrease, let it dry. Then electrical contact cleaner if you're feeling extra neat. Should be fine with just a few squirts of brake-kleen (a brand if I remember correctly) and let it air dry for a few minutes (5-15 tops). BTW, this woman is badass! She can work on my inline 6 any day! (get yer minds outta the dirt and get yer jeep in it!)

Hi Linda a question we replaced ours and turned car back on and the guage is now staying at 0 and light is now on saying check guages can you tell me what to do now please thank you!!
@lwsevo96 жыл бұрын
Get an oil pressure gage and connect it where the sensor goes. See if you get a different reading compared to your dash. If it's still "0" the motor may need rebuilt or replaced.
@davesanders92036 жыл бұрын
If it's reading 0, first check to see if the electrical connector is on correct and tight and locked. If that does not fix it then get another sending unit. If your local auto parts supplier loans tools, get a pressure gage with correct thread adapter and test with mechanical gage. The number 1 clue that the sending unit is bad is the "OIL ON THE CONNECTOR" She shows you the oil covered connector in the video. As to R1 3:16's post about "may need" motor rebuilt or replaced. Well, "may" is the key word. As in the "The world "may" end tomorrow - Are YOU ready?" PS: Hope you got it fixed by now.

hi i have a question I have the same jeep, i wanted to know what does the left side of the shifting gears do? the one that says 4wd neutral and i think 4low or something like that. is that a way i can put my jeep into 2wd? or no and can i put my jeep into 2wd when i don't need 4wd? hopefully you can answer thank you.
@t0nwon528 жыл бұрын
yes you can put the suv into 2wd if you don't need 4wd. there's a 4wd setting that you can use that will distribute traction to the wheel (s) that is (are) not gripping. just got my wife a 2004 with 223,000 miles as a winter vechile.

If you have full time 4WD the left shifter will only shift between "Hi" (regular gearing) and "Low" A very low granny gear

Like just about any teeny little engine accessory, it is located in an awkward position.., :) My sensor broke off at the threaded insert so it could leak. So I took the adapter off, and filled it with epoxy to plug it. Only needed long enough so I could drive to the dealer to get the new part..,
