This is a good video. I have this intermittently... looks like I'll get the same part and change it out on my sweat Monti too!

I love this vehicle..it has an oil leak right now. I gotta get it fixed. Everything on this vehicle works great. It has a little studder about 40 to 45 mph...but it has almost 208000 miles
@sakuraart7 жыл бұрын
Stevo me too. exact same conditions... little oil leak, and a stutter at around 45~50.
@tnridge7 жыл бұрын
I've not figured out the studder...maybe have to take the plentom off and put new plugs and something to do with the fuel injection system
@sakuraart7 жыл бұрын
Stevo I did that already. it went away, and so did the tick I had... but a few months later after the oil started dripping, that's when my studder started.

Adam Pierce it may very well be the torque converter I read somewhere where it could be that

Prob that actuator. My 92 Chevy truck has a problem with 4X4 not wanting to engage after the truck has been driven awhile. It needs that actuator and was common on them to.
@tnridge8 жыл бұрын
yea this thing is out of 4x4 and it tries going in on it's own even when the shift is back in normal..LOL.then you can put it in 4 wheel with ease as long as you put it with the stick.

its more than likely the solenoid is faulty, common problem, my pajero just did the same thing and i swapped out then solenoids and fixed the problem. Your pulling the wrong hose off, try pulling the top two off and swap them and you should see the lights go out thats because usually 1 solenoid is still working. Other than that its probably an earth problem on one of the 4wd switches located on the transfer case. Hope you fix it, cheers.
@tnridge8 жыл бұрын
That's what it was because I did make a follow up video on it after I bought the solenoid..and it fixed it. Thanks
@sakuraart7 жыл бұрын
ah... yes! I have a sheared earth cable on the bottom of my transfer case, maybe I can just replace it and all is fixed... I'll see!

My truck is doing the same thing so changing the solenoid fixed your problem???
@tnridge4 жыл бұрын
yes it sure did..I do not have this vehicle any more. I wish I'd kept it. I'd love to have a brand new one just like it but they do not build them like that any more.

@@tnridge my 2002 Mitsubishi Montero is making the same sound as you described in your video and you said you changed the solenoid and you say that fixed the problem??? So, were can I order that same piece? I know what you mean about wishing you still had it. I really love mind also and really hope to fix it. Any help would greatly be appreciated sincerely, Ben Arthur

Hello, I am not sure if you got yours fixed but Im still posting my comment as I can see this is a very popular problem with the Montero/Pagero. As in my case, I dont have any problems going from 2x4 to 4x4L or 4x4H but as always it starts with the flasshing light in the middle after driving for 50 miles or so. A way to diagnose what exactly is going on I followed David G. video recommendations by tapping into the ODB 2 connector and letting the car's ECU display the alarm codes as it is well explained in abovementioned video. Here is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4rXlqGZndKKZ7c I hope it helps at least some of you. I love Monteros and I always try to keep them as good as possible all the time. I own 3 of them. Blessings.

I sold mine almost two years ago. This video is pretty old. What I did to mine fixed it at the tme. IT was trying to engage at like 40 mph hence is why I changed out that part.
@HEISTVISION5 жыл бұрын
Was it as easy as detaching the solenoid and replacing it with the new one?
@tnridge5 жыл бұрын
Yes it was very easy

I can’t switch out of 4x4 and it doesn’t seem to like going past 40 much. Too loud. Any suggestions ?
@tnridge4 жыл бұрын
honestly I wouldn't know. There are some forums online that you may get some answers. What year model is yours?
@tnridge4 жыл бұрын
It could be your actuator
@frankvela84764 жыл бұрын
I cut the adaptor to the actuator motor made an extension and connected the positive and negative to a battery and let the motor stop in one direction and it stopped back in 2 wheel drive.

I still have it..this montero I've had it a while.....this month I've had my F150 for a year..had one problem..Idler pully bushing went bad and it was making a noise..I just bought a new one and replaced it. IT's been a great truck so far.

what's the part number? I have the same problem..
@tnridge8 жыл бұрын
not sure part number but I can give you a link to the part I bought. The part is called a free wheel clutch solenoid here is a link to one on ebay..Same one I bought worked like a charm. If you get this part from Mitsubishi it will cost you probably over 100 bux and there is nothing to it. www.ebay.com/itm/Clutch-Solenoid-Valve-for-Mitsubishi-Montero-Sport-2-5-2-8-3-0-3-5-MB937731-/262549610635?hash=item3d212d208b:g:eKEAAOSwTZ1XmaJQ&vxp=mtr

Stevo what part does this part you bought control?
@tnridge8 жыл бұрын
IT controls the vacuum for the 4x4 actuator.
@tomasrauda11178 жыл бұрын
Ok. Mine shakes/grinds when driving below 50 mph. It stops when I let off the gas or when I go over 50 mph. Does this sound similar to the symptoms your monty was doing?
@wsu6108 жыл бұрын
the vacuum switch youre pointing is the problem.
