2002 Nissan xterra shift light replacement

Your video helped me replace the bulb but I broke the gear shifter cover (long black strip) when replacing the cover with the 2 clips. I later discovered that you don't have to pull that cover with the 2 clips because the bulb holder twists out a quarter turn, then pulls out. Its located on the under left side just above the Park "P" letter . Just twist out, replace bulb and twist back in. However, thanks for sending me in the right direction.

Thanks for the tutorial! I replaced mine with a 194 blue Sirius led from Amazon. I also had trouble with the 2 clips when I noticed that the was also 2 clips at the top and bottom of the shifter cover. I used a flathead to push in the bottom 2 near the cup holder and that did the trick!

Joe M great video. Everyone, I bought a used 2002 Nissan Frontier and I wonder is there supposed to be a light behind the climate control knobs? I have the lights for the push buttons but can't see where anything is set on the knobs at night. Instrument panel lights work and fuse is good for tail lights which also work. Can anyone advise?

Joyce Brehmer yup, there’s 2 light bulbs, PIA to get to. There’s a video for that too...just google HVAC light bulbs plus your year/model of your car

The bulb is a 194 LED which can be found online and in some stores. Here's a link to a similar bulb on eBay. www.ebay.com/itm/301021055917 I'm putting this bulb in when I get off work today.

Hi, good video thank you. I have got the first plate off ok but the shift indicator plastic just won’t budge, the two tabs won’t give. I can’t push them in both at the same time. Worked on them for over an hour but they won’t budge. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Assuming you haven’t done it yet, you don’t need to take the black shift indicator case off. If you crouch down on the driveside of the car, you can feel around (use the video as a guide) and find the lightbulb housing that you just half turn and it will pop out.
