I have a 2004 Outback giving me the CEL P0464 that refers to the fuel level sending unit intermittent. The wagon has two tanks on either side of the car and I believe there are pumps in each with a float. I had replaced the main pump assembly (the one on the driver-side) 6 years ago and now I am not sure if the error is due to the malfunction of the float sensor on the same pump or on the other side.

I have power to the pump, the relay works. I've replaced the pump twice and I still don't have fuel pressure. At best 1 to 3 PSI it does gush fuel at the supply line but my gauge reads almost no pressure. Still doesn't run. Crank and cam work and I have spark and compression. Timing marks look good on the belt.

replacing the pump itself, not the whole unit, is waay cheaper and very easy.

Followed your steps. Carb spray started the motor. Replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. Still won't start. Next steps?
