2002 TrailBlazer 2 Lo Range?

Investigating the possibility of a 2 wheel drive Low Range.
The Tech 2 scantool displays "2 Low" between Neutral and 4 Low. For those who don't recognize the sensor being adjusted with the probe tool it is the Transfer Case Range Position Sensor from inside the Transfer Case Shift Motor, more commonly called an encoder/motor. This sensor is the "encoder" part of the assembly.
It is this sensor that the TCCM reads to determine what range the Transfer Case is in.
Why would GM program their scantool to display this "2 Low" mode of operation if it did not exist? Was it planned but withheld from production as being somewhat unneeded or unreliable?
