Same, I also shift at 3k to 3.5k when driving a diesel. That way it's best for the engine I think. Normally I keep it at 2k cuz it's the sweetspot of power and fuel usage in my opinion

Also in some parts of east eu old bmws are selling like warm bread. Our dumb mates dont even care if those cars are diesel or in some miracle staying in part. Price always begins with 1 eur and ends with 2000 eur. Sadly most east eu girls think that bmw is the only right car for "real men", guy like me with almost brand new 2019 Suzuki Swift 4x4 hybrid (52000km) will be left behind because 2004 Bmw 3 series front wheel drive hatch with diesel engine is way hotter then mine 😮‍💨

I have a 2001 passat b5.5 1.9 tdi, but it's automatic tho. Still a very good car but it does break a lot if you don't take care of it. After 300k kilometers the engine had no faults and it doesn't smoke like other engines would after those kilometers. Overall it's a good car and im pretty happy with it.
