Another great video Viktor, thanks...QUESTION: What are your thoughts on filling the new oil filter with new fresh oil before starting the vehicle at oil change time? ...and how would you fill the filter with oil on a 2010 Lexus RX350, since it uses a cannister-type filter?...Does - in your professional opinion - starting the vehicle without pre-filling the oil filter cause any damage or pre-mature wear on the engine?...would like to know your opinion. Thank you.

I think that if Toyota thought it was important to pre-fill the filter with oil, they would have included that in the repair manual as part of the oil change procedure. Maybe it would provide some infinitesimal benefit, but it is by no means required. Also, pretty much every new Toyota engine in North America has a filter that sits horizontally, making it impossible to pre-fill without spilling everything out when putting it on. You could do it on your RX by filling the canister that the filter sits in with oil before installing if you wish.
