Pull the fender liner and you can access the two phillips head screws that secure the bracket to the bottom of the battery tray. Remove those two screws and the purge solenoid valve and bracket can be separated on a bench.

Installing Red Tab: The bent edge should face up, and the tab upwards to help go over the tabs inside the clip. Does take some effort to push it through but it’ll go.

I did not. Hopefully that is the same in your case. However, I still had the engine code after this. (Also, I sold the vehicle a year ago, so I don't know if the guy has fixed it).

No, turns out that was not the faulty part. Why can't u fill your gas tank? Crack in the top or something?

@@berthajohnson8103 If your issue was this part, then this would do it. Mine ended up being something else. I believe it to be the evap cannister and the Y rubber tube that runs to it. It is underneath the driver's side of the vehicle and I'll be doing a video on that next month or so.

Having same issues with my 2005 ram 2500. I've replaced the gas cap first. Fixed it for three weeks....it came back again. Replaced the purge valve. Fixed for a week and it came back again. Next I'll be replacing the vent valve. We'll see. I'm not convinced mine is the canister yet.

@@bhillis99 Haven't messed with it since then. I can order the parts from rock auto for around $100, without checking the hoses to the tank. My rear tank strap is broken and it's laying on the armor rack below it so it could be those too. If I had a smoker it'd be easier. I'll be ordering the parts in a month or so.

@@DiversifiedMachinist mine started with small leak. I changed evap hoses and lines. New gas cap. New filter canister. Changed purge valve yesterday. We will see if my light goes off.

These are a bitch when they are rusted.... find yourself a stubby (preferred ratcheting) screw driver and feel your way into removing those 2 hidden screws then take the canister to bench and smack the bracket off with something... then put the bracket back in naked with the screws and then reinstall the new canister
