2003 Eurovan Weekender Pop Top Tent Replacement

Replacing the pop top tent on a 2003 Volkswagen Eurovan. Used an aftermarket tent with 3 windows instead of the factory tent which only has two moon shaped openings. Same process applies to 1999 2000 2001 2002 Weekender model Eurovan. Replacement top, top installation, pop-top tent, tent replacement, roof tent, canvas top eurovan. Awesome video, thanks! Just one tip I’d offer to anyone taking this on is to notice the orientation of the rubber string along the bottom. I installed it backwards, and needed to redo it.

I reused the one I had and put it back in sections. It secures so well in the channel that I didn’t worry about replacing it.

Thanks....I'm confused why you say that you don't need to remove the bottom aluminum rail. How do you get the old tent out from under it unless you remove it, or at least loosen it?

You just need to pull the rubber gasket out very slowly. You have to release the rubber part from the aluminum molding to free the tent material.

I have a 2000 Weekender MV, I'm ready to order a replacement canvas. Do the original canvas - and the replacement canvas - slip over the roof without removing any of the four roof supports?

Correct, no need to remove any roof supports.

I ordered this one CaveVan.com. Great top with excellent quality and fit. Only complaint is that it reduced the tent height by about 1-1/2 or 2 inches.

It took me like 4 or 5 hours, but I was also cleaning up a messy sealant that I didn't need to bother with.

EuroMods, thankis for the video. I have an 02 weekender with the same damage as yours did. I was thinking replacing it was going to be a 2 person job but your instructions are great. Like Ben, I was wondering how long it took you. I'm guessing it would have been a little shorter if you didn't have to stop and do your video.

You can totally do this in a day 4 to 5 hours max.

Hi- did you use any tools to get the gasket back in the channel?

I believe I used a screen repair tool that have the little wheel. But I started with the handle end of a screw driver and that worked well also.
