I thought this was a two-piece oil pan? I’ve been putting it off

I just watched this video, to prepare myself to tackle this job. One key piece that you did not show was the installation of the gasket onto the oil pan, and where to apply the sealant. Given that this repair was done to fix a leak, and improperly installing the gasket will lead to leaks, I think it is a key piece missing from your otherwise fine video.

Watch the video closely over & over till you see it. I pointed 2 both locations of contact points and size of beads to install the silicone. Do not do a pan job if you have no experience whatsoever with contact points. This job really isn't for the faint hearted

Also, I have multiple videos on this job, search from my channel video selection. I noticed KZbin rather promote other videos not related to this job then group all them mine or others for you. Yup, can be ruff when you don't get the whole homework I prepared. I'll try grouping them again for everyone.

Hello. Do you remember: the gasket in front of the pipe and in the back of the pipe are the same? Or is it different? In the catalog they have different numbers. But I thought maybe they are the same.

Carb cleaner leaves oily residue that will interfere with silicone sealant adhesion. Brake cleaner is better. For final rinse anyway.

At least Ford made it nice and easy... 🙄 It could be worse though. I remember taking the oil pan off my wife's 2002 Ford Mustang GT. That was a major PITA.

Can you remove the oil pan without removing those two bolts leading to the back of the exhaust I cannot remove those two bolts looks like there’s a little bit of clearance

Oh man. I was really hoping to see you remove the exhaust pipe that covers the oil pan! That’s the part that was giving me a ton of grief when I did this… Thanks for sharing at any rate!

Can you give me any details on how exactly you went by it to get the exhaust pipe that covers the oil pan off??? I got the front two bolts off but don't really understand how to remove the exhaust pipe
@jamesrussell1495
@jamesrussell1495 5 жыл бұрын
You have to follow the exhaust pipe back to the muffler and unscrew two more nuts. It should be right after the flex pipe. This is the problem I had. Those two nuts were really stuck on there and after heating them and eventually rounding them off, I gave up haha. I was however able to shimmy the exhaust pipe that covers the oil pan down enough but not all the way off to just give me enough room the finagle the oil pan out. Though I will have to deal with those rounded off nuts at some point. @@drvkid1

Awesome video its very helpful! What is that silicone you're putting along with the gasket? Also is it only applied to the sections where the gasket is flat?
@SamTimeSaveAutoMoney
@SamTimeSaveAutoMoney 5 жыл бұрын
Between the mating surface of the block & timing cover on the oil pan side is a small gap. Place a 1/8 bead of silicone along that gap/split/slit. It seals the uneven flatness of the oil pan gasket mating with the block & timing cover. Also. if you reuse old exhaust gaskets then you may also want to use high temp silicone as well. I dont recommend it, I always recommend replacing exhaust gaskets with new studs, bolts, nuts & specifically gaskets, seals, orings, donuts etc. Professional shops dont use silicone so why should you?
