Little did they know, Brian France would single-handedly destroy NASCAR as well as getting arrested for DUI

This was my first ever in person nascar race. I was 8 years old. I was in turn 2. Ill never forget Joe wrecking and catching fire in the grass between 1 and 2. First wreck I ever saw in person.

Jeremy had one of the best runs of the season at the end of the year. Newman was the thorn in his side the last 12 races

I'm sure it helped the case, but looking at Jayski, it says Dover didn't get SAFER barriers until the 2004/2005 seasons, one of the last tracks to get them. Surprising since some of the hardest crashes happen in Dover.

Dover definitely didn't have one of the biggest operating budgets back then or now.

Matt Kenseth left this race with a 436 point lead in the standings, the largest since Dale Earnhardt had a 444 point lead at the end of the 1994 season

I was fine with the elimination of racing back to the caution because it was too risky and dangerous. However, I thought and still think the lucky dog/free pass wasn't necessary. I hold the belief that if you want your lap(s) back you need to earn it passing the leader under the green flag. Compared to many of NASCAR's later gimmicky, unnecessary rule changes the lucky dog looks mild today but I still don't like it.
