They say hindsight is 20/20 but the decision to start Marc Bulger over the MVP/Super Bowl winner/guy who lead his team to 2 Super Bowls in 3 years was a franchise-altering decision for the Rams. Watching this game, it exposes just how average-at-best Marc Bulger really was. He wasn’t accurate AT ALL. He is easily shaken in the pocket after he gets hit a couple times, and he throws erratic passes consistently when under pressure. He made the Pro Bowl this season but it wasn’t because HE was good, it’s because the team as a whole was already GREAT. He was a game-manager AT best who was handed a legendary offense on a silver platter. Had they allowed Kurt Warner to start the entire season and develop his chemistry w his receivers and get his confidence back, this team probably would’ve made the super bowl as they were head and shoulders the best team in the NFC that season. After this game, the Rams should’ve cleaned house on their entire front office for making that foolish decision. It still sickens me to this day.

15 years later and this game still stings! Martz usually is a pitbull when it comes to slinging the ball. Why he played it so safe at the end of the 4th killed the Rams. Should of killed the clock and took two shots into the end zone. Well being a hard core Rams fan. I am sure happy I have gotten to witness the Rams being crowned Super Bowl champs in 2000. 2018 hopefully will be one more!

GoRams G yeah to me this loss hurt the most it was just devastating Warner days were over or coming to an end anyway Greatest show on turf was declining even though we were a great team that year and Bulger was great it still was never the same. When I tell people that they tell me to them the Superbowl loss to the Pats was the worst and I don't agree with that because we were there we were N.F.C. Champs and that's what you play for.

He didn't fully trust Bulger, he had thrown 2 bad interceptions (and later a third which lost the game). If Warner was in his prime, Martz would have gone for it.

it's too bad the Rams got that two point conversion they would of had to go FOR a TD and they would if got it just watch the way that drive was going the panthers were probably like oh thank god there gonna play for OT. WTF WAS MARTZ THINKING. MARTZ WASN'T SO SMARTZ THERE.

Like Eli Manning said, it's better to be down 4 than down 3. Because it's all or nothing. That was his mindset on his SB Game winning drive vs the 18-0 Patriots.

The officials tried to give this game to the Rams but the Panthers were having none of it. This game should never have gone to overtime

Morgan's penalty on 3rd and long for the Patriots gave them life on that final series.......without Morgan's penalty Panthers might have stopped any last chance long 4th down attempt by Pats deep in their own territory to win that game despite Kasay;s bum kickoff

This game was decided early. Rams couldn't score in the redzone,6-0 wasn't good enough, and they have a turnover. Brutal.

The Rams were a one and done but in double OT that is impressive they could hold off the Panthers that long.

They were favored in the game with a stacked offense and a solid defense, they absolutely should have won this game

@@WavyKid13 I know but just saying how the Panthers went on to only allow 3 points to the top seeded 12-4 Eagles and make the Top seeded 14-2 Patriots kick a last second field goal.

The Panthers at home defeated the Cowboys in the wild card round, then went on the road @ Rams, then @ Eagles to make it to the big show. They should have defeated NE. Broke my heart.

Still the most heartbreaking, soul crushing loss as a stl rams fan, worst then the pats superbowl and was really the end of an era of us being so good. Though we made the playoffs next year after the team was in big decline
