A fantastic and very complete review. Thank you for taking the time to make it.

Ah miss my ‘05 2500 Burb. It was a 6.0 with the 4.10’s, towed and pulled great but hindsight wish I had the 8.1. You hit all the good points in these things. The newer generations really lost the appeal to me, I need to find another gmt800 Burb. One if the best vehicles I have owned no doubt.

I have a 2002 suburban 2500 with the 8.1, has all the options except the sunroof, barn doors, and DVD player. Has 190,000 miles on it and so far, so good. I need to replace all of the power window motors because 1 of them is completely broken, and the others are very slow. Such a nice car to drive, I will never sell it because there will never be anything else like it.

My driver side window is making a slight noise while pulling down. Still pulls down fast but I think I’ll be in your boat pretty soon (152k miles here).

I have a 8.1 swapped 1/2 ton suburban with the lovely barn doors I gotta admit that barn door interior divider pieces suck the fall off and block a lot of what I need to see to back into a trailer but I also use it to aim the rear end of burban to back up on my trailer

I have this vehicle but mine is a 2006. You could not trade me for a brand new suv. They are not available with the 8.1 and are not available 3/4 ton.

Excellent! As tu comparé avec le Lincoln navigator que je trouve sympa également
@LivingZeDream
@LivingZeDream 2 жыл бұрын
Le navigator se comparerait avec un Suburban 1500 mais pas un 2500. Seuls les Suburban 2500 et Ford Excursion proposent ces versions avec châssis et moteur heavy duty 😉

Indeed, it looks comfortable... But the consumption, even at US standards, is really a lot ! But I'm wondering if this kind of "big block" can run on ethanol (of course, if you have ethanol at the pump in Texas with a good price, like in Fance...) ?
@LivingZeDream
@LivingZeDream 2 жыл бұрын
It could probably run on ethanol with a tune but it’s only 20% cheaper in Texas. Which means you don’t save anything since ethanol requires 20% more fuel to achieve the same power. Ethanol is only affordable in France because it’s taxed less. This vehicle is a workhorse like a moving truck or a tow truck. Its fuel consomption should be balanced against its usefulness as nobody serious would use it as a daily driver. The 1500 version of the Suburban with its 5.3L V8 offers the same luxury for cheaper and "only" burns 14L per 100km. This 2500 version is only intended to bring the same level of luxury to someone needing to tow 12,000lb. (The Suburban 1500 would be limited to 7,000lb)

@@LivingZeDream Oh yes, indeed. With this small differential price, it doesn't really make sense (except maybe for a reprogramming and for a lot more horsepower 😁). It's true that in France ethanol is much cheaper because it's less taxed (for me, it's the normal price we should pay for fuel...)... I just checked, even in Brazil, Ethanol is only 13% cheaper than gasoline.... Well, for once a time, we are lucky in France...😅

Yep, big life changes. It’s been a great truck but I’ll only have use for it for less than 1000 miles a year now.

60mph empty should be 12-14mpg on the highway which is more than enough for me
@LivingZeDream
@LivingZeDream Жыл бұрын
I bet I can keep 12mpg if I stick to 60mph. Hard to stick to it on our 80mph Texas highways thought 😂 Problems on my particular model are the more agressive off road tires and the aftermarket tow mirrors and fog lights which don’t help.
