I don’t care what the scores say. No one could touch early 2000’s Cavies. This and Frameworks are the most magical shows to ever touch that field.

@@texastrumpet5636 I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I saw this one live. Freaking crazy good. And the hornline too back then. The tuning was so good that it sounded like they were being enhanced artificially. Pretty overtones :) As a brass player I go to live shows primarily for the playing. So all the audio enhancement stuff nowadays is a bummer. I'm still a fan though.

I was in the stands watching this with my corps. When I figured out what they were doing in the end, I was in complete disbelief. Damn shame DCI wasn't going to allow a 4-peat because this was amazing.

I’m sure I’m going to show my age here, but this was peak drum corps. Back before everything was amplified, and there were no props, and no weird voice overs, or sampled music. (I say this having marched 2009-11 when we used voice overs and samples). It was just music in motion at the highest caliber. Pure, raw, beautiful, intense, magnificent performances that really showed the abilities of those marching and the talent of the composer, drill writer, and show designers. Simply amazing.

@@iTip28 Yes the rain was awful. I remember sitting on the bus forever just to see if Finals was even going to happen. I think this specific finals was a big catalyst for getting DCI to Indy for finals. All three days (prelims, semis, and finals) had serious rain delays. I loved this show and my favorite part was debuting the new ending at Murfreesboro (we originally ended where it the looked like it had stopped). The crowd went NUTS and continued to do so at each show when they realized what was happening. Hard to believe this was over 20 years ago.

I toured with spirit that year and watched this many times .. from the moment yall stepped on walkin track coming into the stadium you knew this group had a type of old school discipline which was like something resembling anger or just overall confidence.. that is what to me stuck out .. ive yet to see that trait in a whole group to this day..

Now THIS is a drum corps show!!! I love how the 2000's cavies just took one concept, and wrote around it. There's so many "Cycle" references here, and so many "I see what you did there" moments. Not to sound like the old curmudgeony drum corps fan, but subtlety is waaaay cooler than telling your full story plot with vocals the whole way through.

I was in the guard. You'd be surprised how many straight guys there were. Also, we were originally told our uniforms were going to be "very revealing" so we assumed shirtless or something. Not head to toe Neon green spandex haha. But yes, guard auditions were tough. My first year at Cavies we had over 100 people auditioning for 36 spots. But for perspective, they had like 40+ auditioning for the 5 tenor drum spots. Peak Cavies years the auditions were brutal.

@Elle_Emenopy i cant even imagine. I went to the boston crusaders audition camp for bass line in '04 and even with them it was a whole other level of what i was expecting it to be like. Nothing but incredibly talented kids that made you feel inferior lol i still regret that bc i got offered a spot and turned it down bc i was an idiot teenager that thought it would get in the way of my good times. Being on the peak cavvies alumni is a hell of an awesome thing to be able to say.
