Excellent video!! I actually might’ve had an issue with the throttle body on my 2003 Camry as well. Almost a month ago, I went to Auto Zone to get oil for it (my Camry burns oil, especially since I drive it on the Interstate to work everyday) and when I got back to my car, it would start but then stall out less than 2 seconds later. Engine did seem to run if I started it while having my foot on the gas pedal and revving it but would stall out after I released the gas pedal. So what I ended up doing few days later was cleaning the throttle body and MAF sensor with a throttle body cleaner and MAF sensor cleaner (both throttle body and MAF sensor were dirty and had this black carbon buildup or something like that). So far the car has been starting well and haven’t had the engine stall on me after starting it

I also cleaned the throttle body this past summer ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/gImrpqRsn69rpck ) and it seemed to help but when the temperatures changed and I would drive it when it was cold in the mornings I would step on the gas pedal and it would feel really sluggish coming up to speed. I did some research and found out that with these electronic throttle bodies the gears/motors get worn out and don't like to operate quite right when cold. This Camry also burns oil...about 1 quart every 400 miles. I am still collecting data and troubleshooting this and have a repair planned for this next spring/summer.

Why does my RPM jump 1k_2k RPMS when i hit the gas? Itll also be fine for a while driving down the highway. Randomly, ot will jump down atleast 500- 1k. Any idea?

Will this part work with us made cars? Cause product say Japan build vehicles. Curious

I am not sure on that one. Some of the parts are interchangeable and others are not. My vehicle is Japan built.

I recently bought one of these. Seems to start and run fine but it's got a bit of a rough idle and lurches forward. I've cleaned the MAF and TB but it's still doing it even after resetting the cpu. Also when I take my foot off the gas the RPM's drop like it's shifting up or something. It's really sensitive when you're trying to lightly apply throttle and can make for a not very smooth experience.

@@InsaneOil Turned out the previous owner installed a slightly wrong o2 sensor. The right o2 sensor fixed 95% of the problems, but also has a slight vacuum leak at the intake which I'm assuming is causing the rpm dip when letting off the gas. Gasket is on the way and should fix that

When you started the car your rpms looked to be high like 2000. I know people will say that's normal but it's not. 1500 rpm is as high as it should be at starting the car and that's on a cold day and should drop down as it warms up to around 650 or so. What was your rpms normally reading on a cold start before you replaced your Throttle body?
@InsaneOil2 ай бұрын
After Repair: RPMs drop down to around 900 and even a bit lower when idling. When the car first starts it goes up to 2000 and then quickly drops down to idle. Before repair: RPMs were under 650 to the point where it felt like it was going to die at times.

Hello fellow crazy Camry man, my 2004 with 135 k miles has the low idle issue but seems to stick when rolling. So around 1000 rpm. Cleaned throttle body , still sticks. My Chilton's manual does say the IAC valve is attached, but maybe that's for the 6 cylinder only. Meant to check on that.

Hello i checked on the throttle body and engines. The 2az fe does have the Iac valve while the 1mz fe and the 3mz fe have the TPS. Those are the 3.0 and 3.3 v6 motors

@Insane Oil Amazing video 🔥🔥🔥- Keep it up Is Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) separately connected in the Toyota Camry 2004 or its a part of the throttle body?

It is my understanding that the 2AZ-FE engine (the one in this video) does not have an IACV where as the 1MZ-FE engine has the IACV mounted on the side of the throttle body.

What was the reason you replaced the throttle body? Did you have any engine codes?
@InsaneOil8 ай бұрын
No engine codes. On cold mornings I would press the accelerator and it would take anywhere from 3-10 seconds to feel like the engine kicked in. Basically, it was old and slow to respond on cold days. Switched it out and it responds immediately.
@tommygomez53438 ай бұрын
@@InsaneOil Thanks for the response. Yeah mine runs well until it's warmed up. Once warmed up it still runs well under acceleration, but it has a low rough idle when I come to a stop. I have no engine codes. I think I will try removing it and give it a thorough cleaning.

Good grief, you could have bought a new Camry with the money you spent on all the parts. You said it burns oil, have you tried some Lucas oil stop leak. Also the upper cylinder lubricant.
@InsaneOil2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. The burning oil is due to the previous owner's lack of maintenance in conjunction with Toyota's engineering of the bottom piston ring. I am currently doing a research study to reduce oil consumption which does include Upper Cylinder Lubricant as one part of the theoretical solution. As far as the money spent on the parts, I guess this is just a really expensive hobby.
