Thanks for the tutorial! I got my son a subwoofer for his 2006 xB, and I would have been at a loss without your help. Telling me which wires to plug into the PAC was a godsend. It worked on our first try. He is really pleased that it works...maybe the old man has a clue after all. Thanks again!

Thanks for helpful video. My HU just busted after 8 or more years, now i want to do a full overhaul. I just bought a Soundstream Rubicon Nano 2000w 5-Channel Amp which fits under my passenger seat with correct-side connections. I also want to run a Crossover Unit with the amp but I am trying to figure out how to place it under the same seat without it rubbing or touching the amp there. I wonder if i can custom a level rack for crossover to bunk over the amp. What are your thoughts?

Getting ready to install and under-seat sub in my 2006 Scion XB, and can't thank you enough for this video. My one (main) concern is getting the power wire from the battery to the sub. Access to the nipple in the engine compartment is a cinch, but how hard is it to feed the wire down behind the dash? I've seen others describe removing the entire dash to do this, and that sounds like a nightmare.
@ProvoBeastAudio5 жыл бұрын
Not worth removing the entire dash to install a power wire. use a hanger to fish the wire and you will be fine.

The Kenwood XR900-5 amp fits right up underneath the rear seats on the 2008 model. That's what I'm running along with a 12" Kicker CompS pre-loaded enclosure.

Where did you get the power wire from once it's in that nipple guard? Did you have to take apart the dash?
@ProvoBeastAudio3 жыл бұрын
Oh boy this video is from the early days of the channel. you shouldn't need to pull the dash apart, just look under the dash to see where the wire comes through the grommet.

Question, I have that rockford fosgate mini 100w x 4 amp and a 4 channel deck. I want to run a powered sub now per the car is a little low on bass as i dont have much for bass speakers, just 6x9 at best. it sounds good, but want to add a small sub.... All my RCA channels are used. So I have the converters for factory radio speaker lines to RCA... Can I tap that onto any speaker wire that is already being used for a signal? Or does it have to be an empty speaker wire that is not running speakers? Just want to be sure i do this safe and right... Thanks for the help! Then also i wonder, the 6x9's i mounted in the rear hatch. There is not much behind the speakers and thought maybe some foam/cotton or something behind them, filling up some of the space behind them might increase the bass from them as technically the space behind them is probably ten times what it needs to be like when a 12 inch sub, basically calls for a 12 inch enclosed box, the 6x9 speakers are pretty wide open... THought i might try that, see if it amps up the sound... Ive had 6x9's sound awesome before and these are just good, not bad, but not a good heavy thump for the 100w RMS they get, thats a for sure... Thanks!

For signal, either use Y splitters on one of the front RCA outputs on the radio so you can run your 4 channel amp there, and the other outputs that will be empty for your sub, or you can use a line out converter on your unused outputs (not as recommended), or replace your radio to a unit that supports the right RCA outputs.
@ProvoBeastAudio6 жыл бұрын
You can foam (use fast rings) to help improve your midbass out of your 6x9's.

Thanks, I do have y splitters, awesome, makes that easy enough...

Hey man! Super helpful tutorial, I'm glad I found a video that includes the same LOC as I have. I have a question: you attach the rear speaker wires to the LOC by cutting them and using a butt connector to connect the speaker wire to the LOC, correct? What happens to the rest of the cut wire? In other words, after you cut and connect the speaker wire, what does one do with the other end of speaker wire that runs to the actual speakers? Edit: I might just be overthinking it -- do you connect (for example) BOTH the right rear negative wire AND the right rear negative LOC wire to ONE end of the butt connector?
@ProvoBeastAudio9 жыл бұрын
+DCC Canyon Crew When i cut the wire, on one end of the cut wire, i twisted together the LOC wire and the speaker wire together and crimped it into the butt connector. The other end of the butt connector went to the other end of the wire that i Cut. Hope that makes sense. And No, i didn't combine both both negatives and both positives together, the video explains what wires go where. Look at 6:58 of the video, it shows an example of what i did with the remote wire

+Provo Beast I gotcha, took me a second to realize what I was doing wrong but I was able to correctly cut/crimp the LOC and speaker wires this morning. Thank you for the help, I'm brand new to car audio and this is my first installation.

you tapped into the rear speakers for the rca right? would putting a bass knob that goes in between that RCA box and the amp wires cause any issues?
@ProvoBeastAudio7 жыл бұрын
Possibly, but depends on the factory radio. I would so go for it, but do some testing before you commit to it.

I know this is a really old video, but i have a scion xb 2006 with the exact same sub you are using along with the exact same loc. I did exactly as you when connecting it. Amp has power, loc connected, but nothing comes out of the sub and i have no clue what is wrong. Everything is brand new, just unboxed them today. Everything is wired correctly as far as i can tell, but no sound. Radio sounds exactly like it did before. And ive tried everything on the amp settings and the dials on the loc. HELP!!!
@ProvoBeastAudio7 жыл бұрын
Start removing the variables: check that your amp is turning on, has constant power from the battery, a good ground, and that the remote turn on wire is connected to the ignition wire turning on the amp when the key is on. Use a multi meter to help check those connections. next, check your RCA cables and make sure they are not damaged or plugged into the wrong rca's on the amplifier. Try playing music from another source to verify the amplifier is working. If it is, it may be your wiring with your line out converter.

Provo Beast Audio Installation amp has power when key is on, amp turns on and no protection light. I tapped into the exact same wires you did. Ill try a different source to the amp and see if i get anything

so is it better to not have a n original stereo? it makes the sound not as good if you have the original? is it still worth buying a subwoofer?
@ProvoBeastAudio8 жыл бұрын
+Jack Penrod Well, its up to you and your sound preferences. Typically aftermarket radio head units produce more RMS power than factory non amplified systems. Depending on the radio, the more power usually equates to a cleaner sound. The customer XB owner didn't want to replace the radio, but just wanted to add a little more bass. So we just added a sub and amp for those lower frequencies. Always worth buying a subwoofer :)
