I have the same problem with my 2008 Colorodo.Mine has the 5 cylinder engine. I am sure my repair will be the same. This will be my first attempt at getting her back on the road . Fortunately for me my truck stopped working in my own driveway. Thank you for your video.

TBH, it didn't last long, I had no problems for months, but one day I got stuck at work, I had to do the crank, sit with key on 15 minutes, then off,then start. I ended up just cutting the white wire with blue tracing on the white plug underneath the driver side dash left side of steering column. NOTE: The vehicle must be running when you cut the wire. It will never mess up again, but the security light stays on while driving, it still functions for the alarm.

On my 2012 Chevrolet Colorado LT, I had an ignition switch put in and a BCM, but I still have the intermittent, start problem wiih the passlock light staying on. My Serv Temp light is always on also. I went to several service shops, but no one can pinpoint the problem, so far . The truck use to start after about 30 minutes to 60 minutes of waiting, but lately it will only start when I wait about a whole day and a half day. It didn't start all day yesterday, but when I went out to start it today, then it started with no hesitation. It's on a 90 day warranty for the BCM and 8:35 Labor, so I'm taking it back to the Auto Electric shop this week. Does anyone know how this problem can be fixed for good?

From what I know about the passlock: it uses the resistance in the ignition rotation and sends the variable voltage to the ECU. The ECU determines the key position by voltage signals, that's what "turns on" the vehicle "cranks the engine" and "run" position. If the voltage signals is off, it sets the passlock as an attempted hotwire. Several things might be difficult to determine like faulty wiring, low battery or corroded battery terminal can effect signals properly. The re learning process just re programs those levels, it was designed to take a long time to deter theft.

Hook up a scan tool and take a look at how many the voltage from switch to BCM has to remain constant, if it fluctuates the bcm will alert the pcm/ecu and once you turn the truck off the next time you go to start it passlock will kill it. Battery and alternator, main fuse, battery to chassis/battery to engine block grounds need to be cleaned. Could be faulty wiring as well. But one way or another the BCM is getting a signal that's either too high or low and it's probably happening when you are driving.

I was able to install the part and it worked very good for about 2 months. Now im having the same issue..I’m guessing I’ll need to buy the OEM part to see if that works

@@HandyDan It’s having trouble cranking the same as before. It will even try to crank sometimes before I turn the key over. I have to wait the 11 mins for the passkey light to stop blinking. This has been happening to me everyday for the past few weeks and more often than ever before. I even get the passkey light now while I’m driving.

Did you just remove the switch from the new assembly? I cant seem to find just that part

Yes, I ordered the complete assembly, but to replace it you have to drill out a security pin. It's easier to just swap the sensor on the end. Unless your cylinder is damaged.

7:24 I'VE GOT A 2007 COLORADO 4X4 4-CYLINDER CRANKS AND RUNS FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS THEN SHUTS OFF. SAYING REDUCED POWER RUNS ACROSS THE CLUSTER . HAVE TO WAIT A COUPLE OR SO WITH IGNITION HAS TO BE IN THE OFF POSITION FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN CRANKS AND REPEATS THE SAME THING. FIRST IT GAVE ME A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR CODE. REPLACED TPS AND NOW I'M GETTING A 601 ECM ???

P0601 Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum Error. I would check the main wire harness under hood passenger side ECU connectors for dirt or corrosion. Maybe also all the connectors on the engine. Other than that, it sounds like replacing the ECU, does it drive ok once started?

Does the truck start? If it is running and you are done effing around with the stupid GM passlock, you can cut the white/blue wire while it is running. But then the security light stays on while driving. Is this what you did?
